$250
I used C&T for 17 yrs for service of my generator. Spent approx $5000 over that time for service. In mid- June of 2020 paid $250 for general service. Tech told me generator was leaking and burning a little oil - but had several more years with this generator. In Aug we had a storm. Power was out generator on but heavily smoking. Called C&T immediately and they tried to troubleshoot over phone. I didn’t want to drag them out in middle of storm so agreed to service the next day. When next day came - they were not calling - when I finally reached them they were swamped with calls - most calls came after me. ( we’re on well - so no power - no water) I pressed them on when they could be out - they said they didn’t know. Later in day when I called again - they’re response was - they weren’t coming out - that my generator was shot and was a waste of time to come out! After 17 years and over &5000 on regular maintenance with then including 5-6 weeks before this storm they left me high and dry without service and without a generator. They had just serviced the generator and I specifically discussed with the Tech how things looked and he said I had several more years of life. Then they wouldn’t even bother to come evaluate the generator and left me high and dry without power for 5 days! Would not use them. They will take your $ as long as its convenient, but when emergency service is really needed, they told me sorry you’re not worth the trouble!!! Do not use!! I did replace my generator with another vendor because C&T left me high and dry!!!
Response from C & T ELECTRIC CORP
"Mr. [Member Name Removed] was informed since 2013 that his generator was burning oil on extended power outage due to the age of the engine and that that it needed to be replaced. He did not wish to replace the unit which was his decision. He continued to maintain the unit over the years which allowed him to use it for short outages without issue, but when the August 2019 extended power outage occurred the issue we had warned him about arose. His unit is over 20 years old and has exceeded it's life expectancy due to his continuous yearly maintenance."
