We contacted Tim White of Peter White LLC, to give us an estimate to replace a cast iron tub with a new tub. The tiling surrounding the tub was old and caused leaking into the dining room whenever someone showered. Tim White arrived promptly, and recommended the Sterling Accord (Kohler) tub over several we suggested, then gave us a verbal estimate of $1200 to remove the old tub and install a new one. We thought this a bit pricey, so we asked him if he would reduce the overall cost if we did the demo ourselves. He said yes. So, we ripped out all the old tile, dry wall and most of the cast iron tub and carted the whole mess off to the dump. We ordered the tub and hardware ourselves, had it delivered and brought it upstairs near to the bathroom. We hauled the dryer and washing machine out of the closet so Tim could have access to the plumbing (a huge pain.) Tim showed up promptly at 12:30, and left at 3:15, leaving his assistant, Bryan to finish up. As he was leaving, Tim told me to leave Bryan a check for $1200.00! All our hard work was for nothing, Tim did not reduce the price! Bryan came down and said it was all done. I wrote him a check for the full $1200. He said, "You don't need a receipt do you?" I said, I did and wrote one out myself and made him sign it. He left. I went upstairs and saw a God-awful mess. The cardboard box was not removed, wrapping tape, pieces of broken cast iron tub and white dust were everywhere. I told myself I would never use Tim White again and got to work. I called in Kevin Beem to drywall the ceiling and the tub area. All went well until he got to the tub area . He told me he could not go further because the tub was "not level" and was "floating" because it had not been shimmed by Tim White. In older homes, the floors are not always level. Plumbers compensate by shimming under the tub to make it level so it can drain properly and the enclosure fits correctly. My husband could fit his finger right under the tub. The enclosure was not snapped together properly and was not flush against the wall. Kevin explained that this could also cause leaking and should be done properly to avoid a problem later. So, we called Tim back. He looked at the tub and the enclosure and said, it was a " design flaw of the tub" and he " would not guarantee his work, " if it leaked. We needed to "contact the manufacturer." Tim forgot he had recommended the tub in the first place! When we reminded him he had never reduced the price after we did all the demo, he said, "Oh, that's what I would have charged you anyway." The only thing we got out of him was an apology for leaving behind a mess. We had to pay another plumber, George Bonner, to clean up Tim's shoddy work. George Bonner, Kevin Beem and Robert Ewald did a thorough professional job shimming the tub. Once it was properly shimmed and level, there was no problem fitting the enclosure together. They left the bathroom spic and span. In fact, I decided to hire all three to remodel the rest of the bathroom. Do yourself a favor, avoid Peter White Plumbing, LLC! Peter and Donna Larkin

They were great. They are worth the money. They use good materials, high end and no skimping.
