In early July of 2010, David gave me a quote for a total remodel of an upstairs bathroom. His quote was competitive, and he had come highly recommended by a friend so I hired him. Part of the job was to install a light and vent above the new shower. I requested that it be vented to the outside wall. David said he could save me money by running the vent tube across the adjoining bedroom ceiling and venting the fan through a hole already there for my attic fan. I agreed that he should do that. The estimate also included new wiring for and installation of a ceiling fan in my bedroom, which adjoins the bathroom.
When the job was nearly completed, David told me that the job had taken longer than he thought and he was under pressure to begin a new job. He asked me if he could leave to start the new job and promised that he would be back within a few weeks to install the bedroom fan. I agreed. On 8/12/10, I received an invoice via email and foolishly paid him in full, believing and expecting that he would be back. After about 3 calls to David, he left me a voice mail apologizing and saying he would call me to schedule a time he could return to install the fan. He never returned any of the calls I left him subsequent to that time and the ceiling fan was never installed.
Just this week, I finally hired an electrician to come and install the fan. While he was in the attic installing the fan, I asked him to check and see if the shower exhaust fan had been vented as David had promised to do. He has just informed me that the fan was not vented at all and that the vent pipe in just lying on top of the insulation in the attic. I am not only having to pay an electrician to come in and install the fan but must now hire an HVAC guy to come in and vent the bathroom fan. Under NO circumstances should you hire David Tisdale for ANY job in your house!
