Very well, they identified other issues that needed attention also.
Phenomenal. For context, this is a house built in 1897.
Came out and provided a written quote.
2 person crew quickly determined part of the issue was it was a 20 amp breaker protecting a 15 amp wire (yikes!), hence why light bulbs were popping. Once that was resolved, they replaced the one exterior light already determined to be bad, and checked several outlets, replacing as needed. They showed my representative their tests before taking defective items out. They determined another light socket was defective, and had an equivalent replacement in the truck, so no return trip charges!
Cleaned up after themselves, and were done in about 2 hours.
Throughout, they were respectful and courteous to my tenants.
Hot water heater failed, drawing enough power to burn up (not blow) one of the supply fuses in the old fuse box. Had we not been home, this likely would have burnt the house down.
Beaver came out same-day to inspect and provide an estimate of work. Luckily, the fire damage was limited to the old fuse box. We considered a couple options, and settled on just the new 100 amp breaker box.
During installation, Beaver & his guys determined that the existing service connection to the house wasn't anchored properly and the existing meter would fall apart if they attempted to install the new cable to the new breaker box. Based on this, I was given a new quote and approved the work (this was one of the options we had considered, but hoped not to have to do).
All installation and hookup was done in one day, the day after the fire. Beaver's guys were done by 4pm. Power was restored by the power company around 7pm. Beaver's guy came back Monday morning (next business day) to label the circuits in the house.
I also communicated that I was interested in updating my service since the electrical feed, grounds, and box were antiquated. The electrician took photos that day and I received a quote the next business day. I felt it was a fair quote, I accepted, and they were prepared to start the job the next week. The electricians showed up on time to start the job. They stated that it would take two days to complete the job, but the power would be switched back on after the first day , which it was. The job was completed on time as promised with no additional charges. Since it was an old house they had to work through some minor zoning variances with the city inspector before the work could be completed. The owner kept me up to date on these discussions and we reached a decision that I was quite happy with.
When the job was done everything was done neat, clean, and organized. There was no sloppy mess of wires that existed with my old system. All bends, junctions, and connections far exceeded my expectations. The work area was swept up and no trash or debris was left. The interior and exterior layouts was well thought out with code and aesthetics in mind. The owner personally inspected the job when completed.
As a testament to their work the city inspector was also highly impressed. He asked who performed the work and when I stated Beaver Electric he said that makes sense they always do great work.
All personal from Beaver Electric were very professional, friendly, and easy to work with. The owner and electrician performing the work both patiently answered questions and explained exactly what they were doing at each phase. Phone calls were promptly returned, and everything was performed and delivered on time. This is a great company to work with and I will be calling them again when I need electrical work performed. Highly recommended!
