THIS MAN IS A CROOK!!!!! He resurfaced a large flat roof for us two years ago, and seemed to do a good job, so we re-hired him a year later to resurface two balconies. One of the balconies had a leak and had definitely needed to be repaired. The other appeared to be in good shape and was not leaking, but he pointed out that since it was the same age as the one with the leak, it was probably a good idea to replace it at the same time. He charged us $10,000, because there was a large amount of copper flashing that had to be specially fabricated due to the unusual shape of the balconies. It seemed really high, but he had done a good job on the first project (or so we thought at the time) so we went ahead. As soon as he "finished" the work on the balconies, they both began to leak. And I'm not talking about little drips (like we had before he did the work). I'm talking about streams of water pouring out of the ceilings and onto the porch below. It took weeks of repeated phone calls, emails, and texts (and finally a Facebook message to his wife) to get him to come back and look at the problem. He finally came to look, and said that there "must have been a problem with the primer" and that he would have to tear out everything he did and start over. It was winter by that point, and he said the repairs would have to wait until spring, but that he'd do a "temporary fix" to get us through the winter and then fix it "the right way" in the spring. He assured us that he stood behind his work, that he had a great reputation that he wouldn't risk, and that he'd do whatever it took to make us happy. He also promised to pay to have the ceilings underneath the balconies repainted. In the spring, I started calling, emailing, and texting him to come do the repairs he had promised. By this time, the original large roof (from the first job he did for us) had sprung another leak, even though he had given us a five-year guarantee. It took seven weeks of constant calls to get him to come back. The day he finally came, he said that he didn't need to re-do the balconies after all, but that instead he would just paint a sealer over the seams where the asphalt met the flashing. He said he thought he had found the leak in the original roof, and that he'd repair it at the same time he came back to "seal" the balconies. And he promised that he would bring the $375 that the painters had charged me. And then he disappeared. He stopped answering his phone, stopped replying to emails or texts, and we never saw or heard from him ever again. I spent two months trying to contact him before I finally gave up. He's a crook. He's a liar. He's a shoddy roofer. DO NOT HIRE HIM.
