Fred is probably one of the most polite, punctual, and dependable contractors I've ever worked with. He always showed up on time, cleaned up after himself, did it within the projected cost, and, most importantly, our kitchen floor that he fixed blended seamlessly with the rest as if nothing ever happenned!

Perfectly. I've used Fred for small and large jobs and they have each been perfect. He demoed our old kitchen and built a very high end kitchen for us that , five years later, still looks like new. In our old house in Westport Fred did extensive trim work through out the house as well as renovated a bathroom from the studs out. 
Fred is reliable, honest and above all else a master craftsman. He will only do a job the right way so  if you're looking to cut corners he many not be right for you. I'm a perfectionist and so is Fred.

Restoration, renovation and remodeling

Fred is an absolute professional.  It was a true pleasure to work with him.  He listened to our thoughts and suggestions and added much value by contributing his own ideas as well.  We couldn't be happier with the end result.  His fine carpentry skills are exceptional, and his attention to detail is superb.   On a day to day basis, he always arrived on time and in a great mood.  At the end of every work day, the work site was left even cleaner than when he arrived.  Fred and his crew are reliable, trustworthy, and we felt comfortable giving them a key to our home.  We couldn't complete this review without a special mention of his colleague, Bob, who was equally professional.  We will definitely hire Fred again for future projects.

Fred is one of the nicest - and smartest - people I have ever met, and he is a man of his word.  He has been there for me in emergencies (when a huge tree fell on my roof) and I trust him to take care of my home and belongings as if they were his own.  He is meticulous and cleans up before he leaves every day. He is calm and funny and a pleasure to be with. 
I have been living in Westport, Connecticut for about 25 years and learned long ago that you get what you pay for when you buy cheap in home repair. Before I found Fred Rottjer, I hired two different contractors to repair a mold-filled master bathroom shower. These contractors offered a terrific price, but didn't know what they were doing. Fred charged more than they did, but finally fixed the problem. 
In other words, don't expect Fred to come in with the lowest bid, but expect that his work will solve your problem and create lasting beauty at the highest level of craftsmanship.
