Run....run as fast as you can to get away from Nordstrom painting. After Dave gave me a reasonable price it was all down hill from there. They were the messiest contractor I have ever dealt with...there was paint and spackle everywhere. I spent 2 days cleaning woodwork and patching wallpaper they had damaged. Dave and his guys never finished the work and blocked my phone # after he was paid. Was supposed to return the next day to finish and just didn't show. 2 days later a guy he had working for him showed up to see if I had talked with Dave because Dave had also blocked his phone # and had not paid him. Dave continually told me he would be at the jobsite and always had an excuse why he wasn't there. The exterior has many, many, drips and trim paint was partially coated twice. The third floor dormers were barely touched and looked awful. Dave had claimed they would scrape and sand to make everything look smooth and they did very little. In the end I had to hire another company to fix what Dave and his guys and done.
As it turned out Dave was the most dishonest, least quality contractor I have ever worked with. Oh yea, Dave has also never returned the keys to my house or my shed...I had to change locks as I believe Dave to be a criminal.
He lived up to the great references, if not exceeded my expectations. He was true to his word with a timing estimate, punctuality and his honor. It's sad to say, but this isn't usually the case when dealing with an unknown vendor of services. There have been times (because I'm a woman) where people find it easy to take advantage of someone's lack of knowledge and that usually equates to more $$$ than the original estimate. So, I can't say enough about what a positive experience this was for me. A real breath of fresh air.
David was also very conscientious about protecting my furniture and artwork. He's really good at what he does.
David quoted me a price for the days work and when I asked for help with some odds and ends, he didn't charge me. His philosophy was: "we'll, I'm here and there is time ( in between 1st and 2nd coat) so why would I charge you extra?" David is an honorable man who is hardworking and really prides himself on the quality of his work. I also might add that David lives on the MA/CT border but told me he would pretty much travel to most areas of MA (for those of you in the MA area)
In addition to painting services, David is proficient with carpentry work. I will be using David again for all of my upcoming projects.
I'm psyched that I have someone that I can call whom I trust. It's a good feeling.
I would highly recommend.
We could not be happier with Dave, his father, and their crew. It was apparent from the amount of time dedicated to preparing every area, that they were professionals. Dave and his crew averaged nine hour days, and painted the rooms around our schedule. We originally only considered the upper floor, but after seeing the terrific job they did, we asked if they would stay to
complete the first floor as well. Dave had several recommendations about paint finishes that he had used on other
projects that we felt really made a difference.
As the project progressed there were other small projects we asked if Dave could complete. These included repairs to a ceiling after a plumber needed to gain access to a drain, patching several areas where ceiling speakers had once installed, and installation of a ceiling fan. We worked out a price with Dave as each new item presented itself.
Always pleasant and professional we have already recommended Dave to friends and family.
