We contacted Armstrong during the busy fall season because we desperately needed a chimney cleaning; our woodstove runs pretty hot during the winter, and we were two years from our last cleaning. We were pleasantly surprised when they got back to us with an appointment time later the same week. The Armstrong crew member who came out was courteous, speedy and professional. He also didn’t have any issues with our dogs investigating his presence repeatedly! Armstrong will definitely be our go to chimney service folks from here on out.

Inspected fireplace and wood stove chimneys as well as propane furnace and hot water heater vents.  Found several leaks and improperly installed flashings.  Returned and corrected all problems.

They were clean. The guy that came in was really nice. I would ask questions and he was really helpful in explaining stuff as he went. They seemed like they did a good job. I haven't had any problems with anything they worked on so that was good. The price was really good. I did shop around and I found them to be right on par.

They took care of getting parts and calling for a follow up to install when parts came in. All done in a very short time frame.

In 2012 - when Armstrong inspected the liner - I told the service person that I was charged alot of money for 5 minutes work and he replied that things were expensive and gas was expensive.  At that moment I decided not to work with this company again.  I had a few words with the owner in 2013 because they for some strange reason had automatically scheduled an appointment for me and I had to call them to inform them their services were not needed on that or any date.
I called in another company this year to inspect my chimney liner, a company that 10 years ago had fixed my chimney and capped it for me.  They did this last week (8/2013).
It turns out the liner was glued in at the top and you are supposed to put it in place with concrete.  In addition to that they ruined all the work I had done to cap my chimney because they hacked out the concrete for the cap to put into the liner and never sealed it properly.  Because of their lack of quality work - which also included not insulating the liner (something recommended by the furnace manufacturer), water was leaking inside which created cracks in
the chimney near the top.    I need to have this repaired now.  I was actually shown pictures of what they did and what the job correctly done is supposed to look  like.  It was night and day.
I learned I was overcharged for the work.  Something like this can be done with professional results with the liner being insulated as recommended by the burner company for about 1500 - 1550 dollars.  I was charged 1800.00
It is one thing for someone to come to your house and be courteous and clean up after themselves.
It is another to complete a job with quality workmanship and that's what I expect.  For that I give this company a really low rating - especially for what they charged.  I personally would never work with them again.

I was advised to have the chimney hooked up to my boiler looked at ASAP after a boiler repair. The advise was to do this before restarting the boiler, which meant I had no heat or hot water when calling Armstrong. The woman receiving my call was very pleasant, called back promptly and the owner's son was at my house half an hour after my call. Just having them come out comprised most of the expense of the visit. I asked if he had time to sweep a second chimney and he made time to do that. This made the total price of the service reasonable.
Before undertaking any work, everything was thoroughly and pleasantly explained and priced. Efforts were made to keep the floors clean. The company also had access to a smartphone gadget that made paying with a credit card fast and simple.
The overall impression was one of complete pleasant professionalism.

They were very professional and came highly recommended from co-workers.  They are a family run business and worked to accommodate our work schedules, had state of the art cameras to inspect our chimney and flues and gave us reasonable estimate for some additional work to be done. Very trustworthy and knowledgeable and we will be using again to have a flue lined and for future chimney cleanings.

The work was completed over several days, and Mr. Armstrong called to tell us when he was coming, and was always prompt. I might add that they worked during the 90+ temperature days without complaint. They offer a 5% discount for senior citizens, which we were happy to accept.
We were very pleased with both the Armstrong's service, willingness to answer questions, and professionalism, and recommend them without reservation.
