I never saw an estimate or statement. I wrote a check for materials and another check for labor and when the money was gone, I wrote another check. It was a screwy way to do business and I should have sent him packing early on, but this was the first remodeling project on my first house and I relied on his judgement. Big mistake. He has the worst judgement.
He rebuilt a bulkhead on rotting timbers, using plywood that warped, separated and leaked badly months after installation. He replaced three thresholds that now leak like sieves. He insisted on repairing my front door which I asked him to replace and after three weeks working on it, the rotten timbers were still rotten and swollen, and it would not shut easily as it should and water poured into the house. He insisted on shingling a cupola on my garage that I requested he leave alone, which I now have to replace. He destroyed a cast iron tub without asking, and tried to replace it with a cheap thin fiberglass tub. He did electrical work that he was unqualified to do, that I had to have redone and he did not pull permits as he should have. His professionalism is horrible, his skill set is limited, he requires constant supervision and does not follow instructions.
