It stayed cold for some time, once it warmed back up they called to schedule a visit. The lady I spoke to on the phone told me the last time they had been out (with the previous owners), the cost had been $140, and prices had risen 10% since then, so it would be roughly $156. (Last year I had my gutters done via an Angie's List offer for $140.) Then they called to reschedule to the next day because they had been too busy. When they came out, their worker got out of his truck, and immediately told me that the price for the gutters was $220 because my roof was large. I balked at the increase in price, and he told me he'd bring it down to $180 since that was what I had "allowed for" on the phone.
The work was fine and he cleaned up after himself, but the experience left a very bad taste in my mouth. I don't usually write reviews, especially negative ones as I understand how they can hurt small businesses, but Gutter Guys lack of follow-up and follow-through on their promises coupled with jacking up the price afterward are poor business practices. If they'd been honest upfront I would have found someone else to do the job who could have done it before the gutters froze. Then after they caused delays they jacked the price up. Maybe if I had a bigger job for them the response would have been better, but if I can't count on them for a simple cleaning, why would I want to pay them for more extensive work?
"I am sorry that the Member feels the way he described. From my notes it is evident that he called in the middle of December, a very busy time of the season, and it appears that we let him know that we were a bit backed up. Then the weather of course became a factor. The service was performed on 2/22/16, and then It looks like the Member was slow in paying. When he got a third reminder about the bill he coincidentally realized that our service was an F. -------------- - Account notes- 5/7/2016: LM regarding overdue balance. cc 2/22/2016 4:52:23 PM: Cleaning done for $180 by S_____; M/A sent with invoice - AM 1/11/2016: Customer called to ask when we will be there. I think the price was a little high for the amount of work. The worker didn't have the "downspout screens" with him so they were never installed. I called them within a day but I am not sure if they will make a no charge trip to take care of it.
I do appreciate that they performed work on a fairly short notice during the peak season.
Will use again
Requested service on their site and received an immediate call stating that they would be out within a week. After a couple of weeks, I received another call asking if I had requested service. They came about a week after that second call, all-in-all about a month after requested. They came when I wasn't home as long as I agreed to pricing range, which was very convenient.
After doing a walk through of the gutters after returning home, I noticed one of the down spouts was fully clogged with leaves, and was frozen solid. Could have been prevented, but expect that they will come back to fix it.
"I'm glad that the bats are gone. However, this must be a mistake. Gutter Guys does not remove bats or any other pests, nor is Gutter Guys licensed as a pest control company. And, my records do not show that we worked for this customer. There is only one other possibility, someone may be using the trademarked Gutter Guys without authorization or permission."
