A carry permit (pistol permit) is required to carry and purchase pistols/revolvers. In order to get a State Permit to Carry you must first obtain a local permit. A local pistol permit/temporary state permit may be obtained from the police chief in the town in which you reside or maintain a place of business. The first step is the NRA Basic Pistol course. The NRA Basic Pistol Course is TWO PHASE PROCESS. Phase I : online at http://www.nrainstructors.org The Phase I portion is online (separate fee applies). Students must score a 90% or higher in order to get a passing grade. PHASE I IS MANDATORY IN ORDER TO TAKE PHASE II Phase II : The student will meet with a Certified NRA Instructor for the practical part of the class. This will include a safety review of what you already learned in Phase I, as well as, demonstrating loading, unloading and safe handling of the firearms, and ultimately live fire at a local shooting range. The NRA Basic Pistol Course is required in order to get your local carry permit. The Goal of the NRA Basic Pistol course is to teach the basic knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for owning and using a firearm safely. Classes are help on Sunday mornings. our session with a 357 Magnum and left with my head high after shooting such an amazing revolver. It was an exhilarating day and I was so pleased to have been able to work with Ralph.
