"There was no confusion on the installation. I flagged out with the home owner exactly where each light will go before we installed the lights. She approved the location. I came out at night to look at the spacing between lights. The walkway went parallel with the house than had a big turn towards the entrance. So the left side required 2 additional lights. Looking at the lights from the street both sides of the walkway lights are across from each other. At the turn the 2 additional lights are required because the extra 20 feet of walkway. We moved the 2 lights she said were not spaced out evenly a big 6 inches and than she added 2 additional lights. I scheduled the homeowner to be home so we made sure she was happy with the final placement and did not charge her for the installation of the 2 extra lights she added ."
Well at 4 PM friday afternoon, I realized that I had never bought the generator that i promised my wife. I made some calls to home depot and Lowes and they did not have any but were expecting some over the weekend. I figured that i could drive upstate and pick one up - just needed to get the transfer switch installed so that i didn't need to run extension cords all over.
Even though I knew it was late, i called my electrician Dan D'Arinzo and left a message that asked if he could install the switch and outside connector by monday as i was going to search for a generator on Saturday morning. I also said that i would take a generator if he had an extra one. Dan has been doing work for me since 2001 and has always been there when needed and promised for jobs both large and small. This was no exception.
Saturday morning came and I drove over 150 miles looking for a generator, everyone was sold out - this storm was going to canada.
at 10:30, Dan called and said that he would be at my house later that day to install the transfer switch and he had an extra generator that was supposedly coming in monday morning - it was mine if I still needed it.
By mid afternoon on Saturday, Dan had put in the 6 circuit switch and run wires to the onside for the connection box. he said that he would be back on monday to deliver and hook up the gasoline generator. He also told me to get gas cans and fill them - can't run a generator without fuel. Turns out that advice was almost as important as getting the generator - there were no gas cans available in all of stamford by later that day.
Monday morning at 8:30 - Dan had delivered and helped to set up the generator - showed me how to use it and switch on the power and i was as ready for sandy as one could be.
Dan was very busy in the week leading up to the storm and could have stayed home on Monday - safe and dry. Instead, he was driving around Stamford, in dangerous winds with trees beginning to fall to help make sure that his neighbors and clients had what they needed for the storm.
At 5:30 PM the power went out and at 5:35 our generator was humming and our lights were on.
Dan saved the day and the next four days until we got our power back.
I highly recommend him.
