After getting quotes from two other companies we decided to go with Andrews and the Weil-McLain high efficiency boiler based on his advice and our own preference over a Bosch unit. In the interim we had a no heat situation on a weekend with our old oil boiler and a technician from Andrews was able to come out and quickly diagnose and resolve the problem for a very reasonable rate. The gas line wasn't put in until 11/30 by CNG's contractors but prior to that Sam met at my home with the CNG sales rep to determine a meter location that was acceptable by us, CNG, and Andrews.
Once the line was put in, we got a copy of the permit in the mail before the work began and shortly before Christmas the piping was installed. The crew was very good and were professional and efficient. They setup the time slot with the town inspector for the pressure check and all went well. After Christmas the old boiler was disconnected and the new equipment installed. Just as before the crew worked well and were very careful not to track dirt into the carpeting on our basement floor. They coordinated with CNG to have the meter installed that day so I was only without heat for a few hours while the boiler was being installed. Because the ground was very wet and muddy they moved the old boiler to the far corner of the basement for removal when they returned the following week to remove the oil tank. They also walked me through the basics of the new system and what to do if we ever smelled gas.
The final bit of work was removal of the oil tank and old boiler and water tank. In the few days in between I had noticed a minor vibration of one of the pipes and they added a pipe hanger to rectify that. They pumped the oil out of the tank and safely and cleanly removed the tank and old equipment. They also added some additional piping to direct the pressure relief valves into my basement's otherwise unused sump pit.
The system is running great after about a month now with just one minor issue (a buzzing zone valve) for which I contacted them today. They could have had someone come today but I was at work so someone will be coming in the morning to take a look.
All in all I'm very happy with them. The entire team did a great job and Sam was very helpful both in guiding us to the right equipment and working with Stan from CNG on getting the correct meter location.
Very pleased with the work and so glad my neighbor gave us the recommendation!
Updated-The small issue with the zone valve was quickly and easily handled. After coming out Friday morning to inspect I was unable to get the problem to replicate but had taken a video on my phone showing the noise. The technician didn't have the part on the truck but we setup a time to for him to come back this morning (next business day) and he replaced the control head on the zone valve. That should take care of the issue but it's great to know if something else pops up Andrews stands by their install with such quick support.
