While Mike has been in the business for many years, he was unable to control is his work crew and did not check their work. I believe he had his son partially in charge of a group of twenty-somethings for whom the job appeared to be more of entertainment value than skill level service. Mike himself appeared annoyed when I tried to bring my concerns to his attention.
The crew walked on and disrupted loose landscape walls and damaged slate garden pavers. Very careless help and generally very poor communication. I would have been wiling to move outdoor items where possible if they were in the way. Also, several exterior screens on the house had small cuts that I was never told about. The crew left masking tape on some windows which had been covered to prevent over spray. The front doorbell button had been removed from its hole in the casing (presumably to prevent being painted over) but was not reinstalled fully and HAD BEEN PAINTED OVER. In the end, Mike backed out of replacing some brick trim and painting the front door trim and stain. We negotiated for a decrease in cost, but I felt like I had been brushed aside for work he had elsewhere.
It was a rainy summer, and I'm sure it was difficult for painters to manage their schedules, but for the care and consideration I was given, I would not hire this contractor again.
