Decks R Us

Vasyl and his crew were wonderful! They were very hard working, sometimes working until 9 p.m., and they knew what they were doing. They even went beyond what was originally agreed upon, solving problems and making the perimeter of the deck look even better. (...and most of the time they had to work in the rain...). Vasyl was also very reasonably priced. I would hire him and his crew again in a New York Minute.

The original deck was wood, poorly designed, apparently not to code, and in poor shape.   The deck is over a walk out basement/patio area so the stairs were a full flight plus.  Vasi reconfigured the stairs beautifully to suit the location.  The work was done quickly, despite some miserably hot weather, and the result was excellent.

Everything went vey well from the planning phase to install. Lots of positive feedback from the neighbors.

When one stands on the deck, it looks great BUT the view from the back yard leaves a lot to be desired. If I were to use them again, I would be a lot clearer in my expectations. Bill responded quickly to my request for an estimate and the project was started soon afterward. As far as the deck itself goes, there seems to be only one flaw - the sides of the stair are not even on the concrete slab and one side is off the slab. I can live with that.
The framework that can be seen is the original wood. When I mentioned that it was not trimmed in white, Bill said that was not part of the original estimate. If I had been aware of that, I would have contracted for it, and by the time I was aware of it the project was "finished".
When the men dug the new posts they just piled all the dirt and debris under the deck so I am looking at unsightly mounds of dirt with rocks and wood in them. In addition, there had been ivy around the area and under the deck which was killed off by the large mounds. The holes around the posts were not filled in and so I have been busy transferring some of the dirt from the mounds to these areas. Since I am no longer young and have no one young to help, this has not been easy for me. I am attempting to contact my lawn service to see if they can do this for me. I consider this an unnecessary additional (and avoidable) cost of the project.
I am not saying not to use Decks R Us but, if you do, monitor the project closely and be VERY clear in your expectations and have them written into the contract.

Found this company on here.... Spoke with Bill and have to say he's very honest and is very honest and thorough about the project. Provides plenty of samples of products. He works hard and fast at the same time. Kept me in the loop from start to finish. Awesome contractor, highly recommend to all friends and family and will definitely do business again in the future!

Overall it went very well. It took a bit longer than we thought, and sometimes communication with the company (a small business) was difficult. Nonetheless, it was high quality work at low cost by people we enjoyed working with very much. I would definitely hire them again or recommend to a friend. We need more businesses like this in CT.

We were very pleased with the final product. Bill was very easy to work with, worked very hard, and knew his stuff. He made it look easy. Our only minor complaints were the length of time it took (but, it was winter and he had other jobs to finish up when he started here) and the mess that was left at the end (also due to winter, there was a snowstorm that covered most of the debris left around the yard).
