My Real Estate Agent was able to help me find the perfect property in the beautiful town of Bethlehem, CT. After closing on the purchase of the property, Gary assisted me to work through all the necessary steps of surveying of the property and finalizing the town permitting process.
Now I should note that that I am not an architect, and the house plans that I had created were quite rudimentary from an architectural perspective. Gary gave me an initial estimate and gave me tips on how to improve the plans. Gary gave me many pricing options and came up with alternatives to help get me get what I wanted in the home at a reasonable cost. Gary’s expertise at home building really impressed me. One of the features I wanted in my new house was an open kitchen/dining/living room space that has a lot of windows to let the daylight in. At this time, I knew very little about house engineering nor did I know anything about building code requirements. Gary took the time to educate me on these topics and I updated the plans based on his recommendations. Gary also recommended a local bank where I applied for a Construction Loan and once I was approved, things moved fast.
Gary started on the project right away and coordinated all aspects of the building process. The tree clearing process started in the middle of October and I had a Certificate of Occupancy by mid-April 2014. It only took 6 months! All of the sub-contractors were polite and professional.
The house is stylish, bright, airy, and well insulated. and I am extremely happy with the final results. Gary was even able to furnish the house with hardwood floors and included just about everything on my “wish listand quot; and the final cost was still within my budget ($200K plus the land). I am now a new home owner and I couldn't be happier.
Although the project was finished early (yah!), the the damages to the house were pretty extensive so Thompson Construction was here at our home for many weeks, and we got to know them well. Thompson Construction is owned and managed by Gary Thompson. Mr. Thompson is a great contractor: smart, professional, accurate in his estimates of both time and money. We have an antique home that often requires thoughtful, non-standard solutions, and he is/was happy to talk through solutions, and do the best possible work for the house. He takes responsibility for all his work, and keeps his word. He managed all the and quot;unknownsand quot; of the project in a manner that kept them from being and quot;surprisesand quot;, keeping me informed and calm throughout. The various crews were polite and did very good work. Overall, Mr. Thompson and his company turned a very emotional, and unhappy situation into a very positive experience. We could not be happier.
