I have a couple of lights and outlets that are mis-wired between two different apartments.  I called L-Train Electric for an appointment.  They came over on three different occasions, late in the day and worked on trying to find the right wires and attempting to re-wire them.  They ripped up two closets in one apartment causing substantial damage without discussing it with me ahead of time, and after two visits made the electrical problems far worse than they were before they started.  Then immediately sent me a bill.  After calling and complaining about the situation, they finally came back several days later and undid the work they previously did and left me back where I started from, saying they couldn't fix my problem.  But they charged me $360 and I had to spend several hours repairing the damage they did.  While the building is somewhat older and a bit complicated, I've had other electricians work on it without this type of problem.  Quite frankly, I did not get the feeling these guys really knew what they were doing.  And while I understand that electricians may need to go behind walls or ceilings to check and re-wire, I expect that if they are going to do major damage in the process, they would discuss it with me first, especially when I was nearby.
