CONTEMPORARY CRAFTSMEN LTD

The president of Contemporary Craftsmen is Donald Bascom. We engaged with him to rebuild an office space. He engaged unskilled workers who had no training or experience. The work product was terrible and unprofesssional. Mr. Bascom refused to correct and complete work. We proceeded with arbitration and won an action requiring him to compensate us. Mr. Bascom dissolved this company and has probably created other companies to support this behavior.

The overall project was a disaster. The contractor breached his contract March 28, 2008 abandoned the project. The contractor provided a completion date of May 1, 2009. The following below is list of issues we had The work they performed much of it was been performed in an UN work man like manner. 1. There are issues with the new ceiling in the south wing: a. We have found it impossible, to drop the lights back into the ceiling due to the non-standard technique used to frame the 2x4 openings in the 2x2 grid. b. While attempting to replace the lights, we noted that many areas of the ceiling are inadequately suspended. c. The grid is not level. d. There are also areas where tiles cannot be placed properly because the grid is not square. 2. The new wall between Office 411 and Office 412 is bowed out in the middle approximately 1 inch. 3. Several of the new door frames appear to be out of plumb on the hinge side by as much as 3/8 of an inch. 4. The ceiling being repaired around the bathrooms also appears to have some problems at this point. 5. Most of the drywall joints do not have tape embedded in them.
