They called to say they could be here earlier and I said OK. John and Jason were very nice and were very careful. They also cleaned up and disposed of old parts. They were very knowledgeable about working with electricity.

Ask for Todd. The person who arrives to do the job will also represent the true nature of the organization which no website or Facebook page can really do. It's the human experience that sets the standard. Todd was exactly on time: he was professional, courteous and wasted no time fixing my bathroon faucets. He was personable and efficient. My first call to the company was also a good experience -- the person who answered was friendly, upbeat and wasted no time scheduling the job. I was surprised to discover they offered much than plumbing services and could easily expand my usage of this company.

Let me preface this by saying the technician that did my service, Paul, was extremely knowledgeable and professional. The job was very thorough and when he left, the area was cleaner than when he started. The issue I had was with their pricing method and customer service. I had a cleaning scheduled over 3 weeks in advance, for a tuesday between 8am - 10am. I needed this service done because I am I the midst of selling the house and wanted the service fresh for a home inspection. The service window came and went, and at 10:30am, I called the office to inquire. The response I got was "oh I'm sorry, that was totally my fault, I was supposed to call you and tell you the technician was running late." Not the end of the world... I understand things happen. We rescheduled for that Saturday, between 9:30a - 11a. The tech came on time and started the job ($208 service). At some point after disassembly Paul called me and said we might have an issue...the igniter electrodes looked worn and past their service life. He showed me them as they were out of the furnace and in his hand already...meaning, he already did the work to remove them during the normal process of the cleaning that I was already paying for. I asked how much the repair was, and he said, I actually have the parts on my truck, it is pretty common to replace, I will be right back. From there he plugged the job into the tablet he had and the price came up $279, which he was perfectly up front about. It struck me as expensive, but what was I to do. I did not have any time to really research and get another quote...the thing was apart in my basement and I had things to do that day. After a couple minutes I said go ahead and replace it. He finished up and was on his way some time after that. I was able to sit down that afternoon and look up the part...the part that he already took out and had to put back through the process of the cleaning I was paying for... through every supply house I could see online the part is anywhere from $15 - $25 at most!! I promptly emailed the company to see if there was some sort of mistake. The next day, again to their credit, I was called early in the morning to discuss. It was explained to me that the job was a flat rate and that is what it costs to have the part on the truck, the tech to do the work and so on and so forth. I expressed my concern that I was double charged for much of the service and how can a 15 minute job involving a $15 dollar part possibly cost $279, while the service he performed to clean the furnace and get to the part was $208?!? Again, it was explained there was a flat rate for that particular repair and that is what the cost is...what does not make sense is the igniter electrodes came out for cleaning, part of the service of any furnace is to reset the electrode spark gap anyway (same as the replacement of them)....so what additional labor or time was there to charge for?? He was already at the house for the cleaning, he removed the parts... I could have told him, no thanks, put them back in and that $279 charge becomes $0, and he wouldve done all the labor regardless! My point being, I feel I got totally ripped off, and I feel sorry for people who do not have a clue what they are looking at and do not even know they got ripped off in the first place! Through a conversation with the girl at the office, Ashley, I even offered to pay for 2x the cost of the part, $30 - $50 and 20 minutes or so of extra labor....I said I would not love it, but would be fine with adjusting the cost to $75 - $100, instead of $279. I think that is MORE than fair for the work that was done.... Instead they decided to not do anything, lost a customer that they have been servicing for 3 years and will do what I can to ensure this does not happen to another sucker...
Response from Total Mechanical Systems, LLC
"As we have explained on all of the reviews you are leaving everywhere, No one is dancing around charges. The $279.00 to replace the electrodes, that was accepted, is the price to do the job in its entirety. The price is for the task. This price includes having the tech at your home, on-time, in a fully stocked, clean & reliable vehicle, prepared to do the work. As we also had previously explained, we do not charge by labor and material, but with **Straightforward Pricing** meaning the quote we give to customers is the price to perform the given task in its entirety with no extra fees or hidden charges. This means that no matter what happens while performing the quoted work, i.e. more time needed, you will not be charged anymore. The repair is the part, to install it and test it and everything that goes along with the call. In your example of the mechanic, the part your missing is we charge an upfront fee of $279 for brakes. Whether the brakes are apart or not is irrelevant. The price is the same for everyone to be fair and consistent. To say these posts are to help another **gullible customer** is exactly what we mean by slander. We are not out to get homeowners, we are in business for the exact opposite. We are here to help customers in their time of need to get their vital heating and cooling systems up and running safely and in a timely manner. We are 100% open and honest about our pricing for each and every job and ask each customer for approval, as we did for you, before starting the job. Total Mechanical Systems stands behind our values of integrity and excellence, and we take those values seriously. We are sorry that our pricing structure is not for you, and we can understand that it is not for everyone. That is why we give the pricing upfront before doing any work. We have never, and would never take advantage of any customer."

I have had two other electricins at our home to fix our Ring doorbell (when depressed the indoor chime would not ring and the doorbell would not power by hardwire, only by battery). Within 30 minutes the problem was found (it turned out to be a broken wire)! He was very professional, courteous and knowlegable. I will be using this company for any future electrical issues.

They were wonderful on all levels...from my first phone call to the delivery of the service. The technician gave me cost saving options for repairing my A/C rather than replacing. He was very knowledgeable and able to identify my problem. I have finally found a company to handle my heating and cooling issues...YAY!

They were quick to arrive and knew what to repair and did it quickly. Only caveat is they push hard to find other things to either repair or add on to your home. I understand the generation of business but I don't did an extra outside plug or generator because I never lose electricity where my location is situated down the street from the police and fire dept. I'm in a good spot!

It turns out the work that had been done on my central air was a complete hack job. Totally botched. Mark was able to diagnose the long list of problems and come up with a plan to fix everything. The central air has been working beautifully all weekend. Just in time for scorching heat.

They were very polite and neat and worked quickly. They also did extra work in flushing our gas water heater at no extra charge. The only negative was they found a valve that wasn't working on the furnace but did not repair it. Not sure why. It was on the invoice we got in the mail but they did not mention it to me
