Morin Paving is the BEST! Dependable, reliable, attention-to-detail. They bent over backwards to accommodate us and our schedule and were wonderful to deal with. Karen, who answers phones, is an absolute doll! Morin Paving was just a pleasure to work with--every step of the way. FIVE STARS!

I went through Angie’s List. I actually talked to several companies about drainage issues in our yard, but we ended up having them do the paving.

Not well. I was given an estimate of approximately $5400 with work to start in 3 weeks. They removed all material to base and allowed me to pay them to move dirt from new section to othet side of house. It took all day (10 hrs) for them to do a 3 hour soil move job. The grading was supposed to be complete yet they wouldn't correct sections that were 1" below siding, I was contracted for 2" asphalt. OK.... This done around may, the returned Oct on a 22 degree day ( 25 and lower for week) the last day the asphalt plant was open. I refused to allow him put down hot asphalt (warm) and asked him to come back next year. John said he wouldn't be back. The next spring I was told about 5 weeks and called several times got the same lie. They never returned. I had to call around following year and finally Grecki came out and did a 4.5 star job (curbs were uneven). I have waited 5 years and finasfinaslly am writing this. And its the truth. Maybe they do easy flat jobs but not good otherwise. I paid $1800 of $5400 and had to pay $5000 to Grecki so Morin cost me time and money.

They excavated the lawn in front of the new 2 car garage and installed the base. I was thinking of having the blacktop done in the spring. They were ready two weeks after the base was done, so I agreed to have it done.

They measured to our needs which allowed us to keep a wide gate. The new garage was on a pressure treat floor that was up about 4 inches. They sloped the driveway nicely so I did not need a concrete ramp. It looks very nice.

(Dealing with Joan and Frank was a pleasure. Very knowledgable. Frank evolved the plan based upon what was encountered (and unexpected) regarding water drainage. He ended up putting in a dry well, which has worked flawlessly, short of the deluges, which still drain, just more slowly ? but, water does not come into the garage.
All-in-all, as good an experience as one can have with this kind of thing.

I did get multiple quotes from various paving companies.
I chose Morin as they were the cheapest and were doing 3 inches (2.5 inches compressed) paving - others were doing 2.5 inches (2 compressed) inches paving.
Till now the paving seems to be fine and I am satisfied with the work that was done. Time will let me know if there are any problems.
They were punctual and responsive.

Finally the Company came out to the house unannounced and spoke to my wife.  Morin Paving has offered to repair the damage but

based on his interaction with my wife she never wants to see him again or have him on our property. Caveat emptor!
Response from Morin Paving Inc
"The following is our response to [member name removed] complaint: In [member name removed] attempt to disgrace our company’s name and work ethic, he failed to give all the details of his driveway which are listed below: (1) His driveway is on the side of a mountain with at least a 7% to 9% grade. The house is approximately 90’ to 100’ higher than the road. (2) There is a massive amount of water that runs off the mountain down to and along the sides of the driveway causing erosion. The previous and original driveway was completely destroyed by water. We were contracted to remove the driveway, install base, which was non-existent, and install asphalt. During the winter, we received a request to inspect the driveway for cracks in the driveway. Upon inspection, we found that a crack at the top of the driveway was evident as it was caused by driving off the edge of the driveway. The pictures that we have show numerous tire tracks in the same area. The [member name removed] were instructed no tot drive off the edges. We cannot be held liable if our instructions are not followed by the customer. Cracking also occurred at the very bottom of the driveway. This occurred from the massive amount of ground water coming off the mountain as well as the road plows hitting the driveway edge. We offered to repair the two areas at no cost to the owners. Their request for a $7,000 refund is absurd. The cost of material alone to do this job was over $10,000. It is very difficult to deal with people that do not cooperated with you in understanding the instructions after a driveway is paved."

A disaster.  When we first spoke with Morin Paving salesman Paul Giofriddo, we made the point that good drainage was important. He said that his boss, Kevin Morin, was an expert and gave assurances that water would flow away from the garage and house. Two days after the work was done, it rained and water flowed towards the house. (The drive goes along a side of the house.) The volume of water was especially great where the asphalt walkway goes to the back porch. A large pool formed in front of the bottom porch step and spread into the garden. Water also pooled in places along the driveway and came into the garage when the door was closed. That was just the beginning.
Subsequent storms brought heavier rain and more damage. In mid-June water entered the basement on the driveway side of the house. Pooling water undermined stepping stones in the garden and damaged plantings. Landscaping has been damaged along the driveway and walkway. It?s now winter and pooling water is freezing?creating a dangerous condition.
The drainage problems are mostly the result of pitching the driveway towards the house instead of away from it. A fact confirmed by an engineering and surveying firm we hired to assess the problem.
Other Morin Paving errors: the driveway was widened when it should have remained the same width as the one it replaced; aprons were added to both sides at the street?should have been right side only; the work crew got asphalt on the cellar hatchway, marring the surface.
There were no drainage problems prior to Morin Paving?s work. (Purchased house in 2000.) In response to a letter in June 2013 outlining the problems, Kevin Morin came to see the job but offered no solution.
In October 2013, we sent the engineering and surveying firm?s report to Morin Paving. They refunded the $3,800 paid. Based on estimates from several contractors, the problems created by Morin Pavings will cost $4,400 to $5,300 to correct.
Right now:  serious water problems and a refund that will not cover the cost of fixing them.
Note: We selected Morin Paving because they received many good reviews on Angieslist. A great disappointment.

Morin paving did an excellent job of regrading the driveway.  The quality of material and workmanship is obvious compared to cheaper alternatives used by the neighbors.  Office staff was knowlegable and job was done on time as promised.

Morin Paving was punctual, professional and courteous.  The quality of their work is excellent.  My neighbor is a professional engineer (contractor) and he was quite impressed with the job.  Pricey and well worth it if you really value the appearance of your home.

I called for an estimate and the next day they sent their estimator to my house for a quote. He took his time in making sure he had proper measurements and went over what to expect in the next steps if I was to choose their company. About 1 week later I called them to hire them for the job. The estimator came out again with the contract and remeasured just to be safe. Within a week their crew showed up to remove the old driveway as well as some of the backyard to expand the driveway for more parking. The process went well and all the crew members were very professional. The owner of the company was also there on the job the entire time. A few weeks passed to let the base settle and they returned to lay the asphalt. This process seemed to go by quicker and the driveway looks great. The pitch of the driveway was done quite well and directs all the rain water away from the house. I would highly recommend Morin Paving.

I had contacted them in late winter and had an estimate within a week.  I was told they would not begin until the weather was favorable.  They dug up the driveway in early April and completed the project on April 25.  All the workers were friendly and professional and the driveway looks great!

In the end it was a positive outcome.  Company was very responsive and prompt in the initial review and estimate.  They were also very prompt in getting the initial excavation and then grading of the driveway completed. I was disappointed, though, that it was then more than 2 months before the driveway was actually paved.  In addition I was annoyed that this company requires final payment before actually completing the work (as in, leave a check for them for when they arrive to pave).  As a working professional this does not work well - I'm not willing to pay for work that isn't yet completed, and can't always arrange to be there for their arrival. I've never had another home improvement/ service provider require final payment before completing the work.

Morin promptly returned our call for a quote and scheduled an appointment right away. We got 3 quotes and one was higher and one was lower so we went with the middle one; Paul seemed knowledgable about the challenges our circular driveway could pose and addressed our concerns about water runoff. We were having another contractor install border pavers so we needed to coordinate their work with Morin's. Morin was able to work with us to schedule their excavation, the laying of the pavers by the other company, then the asphalt by Morin.

They removed the driveway in a couple of hours on 9/28/12. Everything happened exactly as they said it would. They were very careful not to ruin our grass, bricks or pavers. Due to bad weather they were not able to return to finish the job until 10/11/12. They showed up on time and were very professional. They laid the new driveway within a few hours and again took care not to damage anything nearby. Only upon completion did they ask for the final payment and explained in detail what and what not to do to take care of our new driveway.
