In August of 2014 I traded the truck and subsequently met with Crowley's finance manager regarding the refund provisions of the service contracts. He explained that there would be two separate refunds, one of roughly $1600 and the other of $115. I received and deposited the first of these ($1653) in November of 2014. I waited to hear regarding the second check but heard nothing. Over time, I telephoned and emailed the manager but heard nothing back from him. I sent emails as well and tried to contact them via their website complaint process, and on 12/7/2015 sent an email to the designated representative for Mr. Crowley. In each case no one has responded. If there was a glitch or if my refund request was unwarranted i would have expected at least the courtesy of a reply. This has been very disappointing.
More than a month later I called Crowley and spoke to the director of the Service Department. I told him I had not received the refund check. Crowley called back and told me the check had already been cashed. The director of the Service Department and the general manager both told me there was nothing more Crowley could do since the check was already processed.
Crowley Ford still owes me the refund and refuses to issue another check. Awful customer service. Since Crowley personnel suggested that perhaps my wife cashed the check on the sly, all I can do, is suspect that someone at Crowley Ford is somehow cashing these refund checks and Crowley is not owning up to this problem. There is no recourse for this issue - police told me that there is nothing that I can do to get the refund. Buyer beware!
The second time around I felt I was treated much better. I was given the opportunity to test drive a 2013 vehicle while waiting and was loaned a 2011 vehicle for a few hours. They did not charge the diagnostic fee and determined that the 4x4 control module was bad and needed to be replaced. They also gave me the upsell again and told me that my rear brakes and rotors were bad, my front and rear tires were mismatched and could cause 4x4 problems, and that my wheel alignment was within spec but "near the acceptable limits". All were true, but I declined all but the 4x4 module replacement. They told me the part would be in early the next morning and my vehicle would be ready by noon. However, I did not get a call until 3PM. Was told driver would pick me up in a few minutes. He did not arrive until 4 PM.
While I was pleased overall with the service, I wish the service manager had under-promised delivery time and over delivered.
I will return to Crowley for future service.
