The work done by Jim Jaffe and his crew was very professional and competent. They used brick that was compatible with our home, placed attractive caps on the tops, and finished the project very nicely. The project area was cleaned and put back to its original condition as well as it could be. We were very satisfied with everything, and recommend them highly.

I have had Jim do work for me previously [a steel chimney liner] and his professionalism then was the reason I called him for the new work. He and his crew are thorough, professional and they clean up so well I could barely tell they were in my basement.

Cost is comparable, maybe a little more, but worth it for the peace of mind knowing that the work is being done correctly the first time

The owner was prompt, courteous and understanding that I knew nothing about chimneys. I had called this company after being urged by my furnace cleaner that I had better find somebody FAST, because I had a problem. This company showed up within the hour and set my worry at ease. The chimney was in fine shape, but the furnace flue was not!!! He contacted another furnace cleaning company for me and they fixed the problem that day.

Great service. I used CT Chimeny and Vent about a year ago to do a sweep, and got a quote for a new damper and cap at that time but just got around to having the work done this week. When I called them back, they still had the quote and honored the same price they had originally given me. I had to wait about two weeks for an appointment, and they sent the same technician who came last time, which was nice. The job was professional from start to finish; the technicians arrived exactly on schedule, worked diligently and most importantly, were respectful of me and my home. I tend to ask a lot of questions, and both the people who answer the phone in the office and the technicians on site are very knowledgeable and happy to answer all my questions, even for things like installation of new doors (which they don't actually do, but they still answered all of my questions and were happy to talk about it). I appreciated their time and feel like I learned a lot about my chimney and how things work. Their work looks great, and everything was cleaned up and neat when they were finished, as well. The only thing I can't comment on is price; I originally called several companies (when I was getting quotes a year or so ago), and CT Chimney was the only one that got back to me promptly. Since I was pleased with their service before (when they did the sweep), I didn't get any other quotes before hiring them for this job. I will use them again, and would happily recommend them to anyone who needs chimney cleaning or repair services.

My husband and I were under contract to purchase a home, and our home inspector found some areas of concern and recommended we have the chimney and flue inspected by a professional. There were also some repairs needed to the fireplace for which we wanted to get an estimate. We contacted several companies; CT Chimney was the only one that returned my call promptly (though someone else called back a week later, but that would have been too late to fit in an inspection during our contingency period). I called Thursday late in the day and they were able to fit the appointment in on Monday. I was not able to be there for the inspection, but they were able to call my broker in advance so he could meet the inspector.
They arrived within the time frame promised, and the appointment took about an hour, and at the end my broker called me so I could speak to the inspector directly. He was very helpful, explained all of the repairs, the cost, and which ones were more urgent than others. I didn't receive any written report (though in retrospect, I can't remember if one was promised or not). They were going to email me a receipt and I didn't receive that, but the charge to my credit card was correct--in fact, the actual fee for the inspection was lower than I was originally quoted over the phone.
We did not end up purchasing the home so did not have the repairs done, but my experience with CT Chimney was great and I would call them again. We didn't get any other quotes so I don't know how their repair estimates compare to other companies, but I thought the inspection fee was very reasonable.

Jim Jaffe was called in to consult by Michael Tullo of Everlast Construction, who was giving me an estimate for a new roof. The masonry work required was beyond Michael's expertise. Jim did an extensive evaluation of the repairs needed and carefully explained how the work would be done, giving me three different options. He was careful to warn me that, since the used brick employed in the original 1973 construction was no longer available, the new brick on the repaired portion would be noticeable. In the end, they did a very good job of salvaging original bricks to use on the most visible sides of the chimneys. The crew showed up promptly as promised, cleaned the work area each evening, and left the site in good shape when they had completed the work. Jim took me on a tour to point out exactly where they had used new brick, and how the chimneys would look once they had had aged a bit.

I highly recommend this firm.

I FEEL THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND THEY WERE ALSO EXTREMELY FRIENDLY. THEY DID NOT TAKE A LONG TIME, AND WHEN THEY LEFT IT WAS CLEANER THEN WHEN THEY GOT THERE.
