While, I would say that the work that was completed was done well, he did not work every day and sometimes only a couple days a week, stating his "siders" fell through on another project and he needed to do the siding himself (with his coworker/employee). Eventually, he just didn't show up. No call. No email. No text. NOTHING.
He DID NOT finish the work on time.
He DID NOT show up as promised.
He DID NOT return our money.
He DID NOT complete most of the contracted items.
The covered porch and the rear stairs were completed. Some freeze board was installed. The bedroom and the bathroom were completed. The fish scale siding was installed. The stained glass door was installed, but the interior trim work was not done. No painting, or staining, or poly coating was done on the interior or exterior of the house, other than the bedroom.
The rear siding was NOT installed. The roofing and gutters were NOT done. The deck was NOT touched. The basement was NOT touched. The dryer vent, stained glass, ventilation system, and exterior bulk head were NOT installed. The soffits, fascia, rakeboard, and mouldings were either never started or never completed.
We texted him several times to ask when he was going to finish the work, He stated he would be here in a week or two. NO SHOW. Then we texted him again and he said he would be here in a week. NO SHOW. NO PHONE CALLS. When we finally got him by phone, after nearly 3 months pass the estimated completion date, we fired him. He refused to return the money or deliver any supplies that may have been purchased with the money (i.e., siding, roofing materials, gutters, etc.).
We sent him a certified letter requesting the money be returned, and he would not pick it up from the post office.
Now we are looking into legal remedies and contacting the CT Contractors' Board and BBB and filing formal complaints.
DO NOT HIRE HIM! You may be happy with the work that he does complete, but you may not get it done on time or at all!! Do not TRUST him to keep his word. Do NOT expect him to show up or contact you.
