Beware!!! Harold and Joe are deceitful and negligent! I am currently having a horrible experience. 9 Months ago Harold sold me a "whole new system"(2.5 ton) for $6500 complete. He did not tell me it would not include parts as directed by Carrier for a proper installation. In the winter, the heater did not work and he made excuses to charge me $1,100 (originally billed $1,800, yet quoted by Harold $700 prior to work) for putting another air return hole in my office wall because there was a air restriction and when complete it still did not work. Turns out he installed too small an air opening in the unit and had to permanently remove my UV germ killing light to expand it. He did not connect the condensation line so the unit leaked until I noticed it buckled my 3/4" scraped hard wood floors on the floor below and now I have mold growing from my ceiling and walls(photo attached). He refuses to provide his insurance information and denies responsibility because he "does not change my air filters". He changed the 2nd to last 2 filters because he was still doing repairs to get my HVAC unit to work. Also ironic because he tried to get me to eliminate the use of an air filter completely to improve the air flow and reduce restrictions. He charged another $350 to connect the condensation line and replace the water pump(which was still working fine, if he connected it). That $6500 system is now $8,000 (plus the cost of damage to my home)and still has issues. This is not even a year old. Oh yeah, he did not replace other necessary parts like the pad for leveling the outside condenser (included by all competitors). These guys are con artists and I cannot recommend them. Stay away or it will cost you $$$! Paying another company more money will save you money very quickly down the road.

All went well and work was performed in two visits - one for initial tune up and evaluation and the other to perform repairs

Work was performed as promised. Showed up on time and the workers were very professional. They were knowledgeable about what they were doing and were able to answer all our questions. They cleaned up after themselves every day. Once the work was completed, my husband wasn't happy with the outside appearance of the house. White pvc piping was used for drainage of the new system and was very noticeable on our brown house. He called and spoke to the owner who listened to my husband's concerns and then he sent someone over the next day to remove the white piping and replace it with a clear tubing. All at no extra cost. We also noticed that one of the new units was leaking and that was fixed right away as well. The final price was exactly as quoted on the estimate and the work was completed in 5 days. Very happy with our experience. Would highly recommend T and H Mechanical Systems.

I built this home several years ago.  An extensive HVAC system was installed but never worked properly.  That installer thought they were Perfect (claimed they were among the top 10 for Carrier expertise in the state).  They were far from that.  Zoning issues, air movement, balancing, etc. were all off.
Harold from T&H Mechanical was hired after I thoroughly researched everyone on Angie's list as well as many names from my associates in the building trade.  I immediately developed an appreciation for Harold.  He is a no-nonsense professional who worked with me to come up with a price and design that seemed to me to be a good value (I never buy the cheapest or highest subcontractor - I seek the best value with workmanship as the highest priority).
Harold is not a typical sub-contractor who believes his ego takes precedence over professionalism.  Harold is professional in every way starting with being very knowledgeable about HVAC in general, about Carrier specifically, and he is intelligent and easy to talk to.  This was very important to me because he was remedying a previous failed system that required extensive re-zoning and re-configuring.  Any minor issues during the discovery stage and troubleshooting stage were easily and pleasantly resolved.  His employees are top notch.  Jan, the mechanic who worked on my home, is a big guy but gentle as can be.  He is clearly very good at what he does, if not perfect (I could find no way of improving on his work).  Every single thing he touched was an improvement over the previous installer and evidence of his workmanship is seen throughout my home.  Harold also brought in others to assist with controls or additional mechanical needs and all his employees were equally professional.  The system now runs beautifully.
Of course, workmanship is of the highest priority to me but, so is the respect someone shows for my home.  Harold and Jan were always very respectful, taking off their shoes even when I insisted they keep them on; leaving the job site perfectly clean at the end of each day; didn't play radios and were always quiet and efficient.  Any time I called Harold following the completed service, he responded near instantly.  They just left my home yesterday, 6 months after the initial job was performed (I always wait some time before writing my reviews).  During a family stay-over last month, we noticed for the first time that one of the bedrooms was getting too much heat.  I called Harold and mentioned that during their installation, I told Jan not to put in a damper for that zone because it seemed superfluous.  However, it turned out that I needed it.  Harold never blinked an eye and said that it should have been part of the initial service and would not charge me.  I expected exactly that from Harold because this time I chose my HVAC contractor wisely.
Note: the only category I gave Harold a "B" on was price.  I think his price was very fair especially compared to his competition in Connecticut.  I think it's the price of doing business in CT that drives me nuts and why I gave a B.  But, I will only use T&H going forward as they are overall a great value because the workmanship is tops but you are paying median prices - I'll take that every day of the week.

I comparison shopped and got a number of quotes. Harold, the owner, personally performed the estimate for Tand H. Harold was very prompt and professional in his communication. He didn't have the lowest price but he was competitive. Harold quoted me multiple options for dealing with my blown compressor. Harold was very creative in presenting multiple options with the goal of finding the most cost effective solution to my problem. He offered an option no other shop did - replacing my condenser and upgrading my evaporator/air-handler to puron/R410a refrigerant. I opted for a full system replacement. It was important to me that they complete the work quickly as I was without air conditioning and we've had a few hot days. We agreed to do the work on Friday and the work was completed by the following Wednsday. Yan and Joe performed the install and did excellent work - they were courteous and tidy. Yan addressed a few extra things that he observed while doing the work free of charge (e.g. improving a semi-functional motorized vent for an attic fan which he had to remove during the install). I am pleased with the quality of work and feel it was reasonably priced.

Owner came out to do a free estimate. Pricing was explained and given in writing. Owner came with workers on day of installation to go over job and explained everything. Work was done and tested and explained to us.

I called back a week later when it wouldn't start and it turned out my system had just tripped the electric circuit. He turned the switch on and off once and it started. Then he said he'd charge me $100 for this. He never even brought in his tools! I told him if he charged me $100 for flicking a switch I'd drop him and he replied that hed go out of business. Well, I certainly hope he does. Because a year later, when another company came in to do my service, he found that they never cleaned the air filter. I was lucky my entire system didn't freeze over.

We had to replace our boiler and after receiving 4 different quotes, I decided to go with H&L based on professionalism/knowledge of the sales team, price and previous reports on Angie's List. The company from the sales person, Ian, to the installer, Marty, were very professional and courteous. They did the job exactly as described and didn't cut any corners. It takes about 1 full day to do a complete install. I liked that the installer delivered the boiler the day before so that the installer could plan ahead and know exactly what (if any) additional parts and materials they would need for the installation day. The installation was clean and area was kept neat with the piping and wiring done right. They cleaned up the area after the installation and gave me an overview of the boiler system. Overall we were very pleased.

H & L was professional and responsive throughout the job, from estimate to final completion. Service to complete remaining tasks and resolve issues after the main installation was especially noteworthy and outstanding. Highly recommended as "real local business people" who care about their customers.

We believed that the structure of the home would make installation of central air very straightforward: easy access, simple ducting, and only a/c/ on the upper floor. From our 3 quotes only H&L took into account these factors - they were 25 % cheaper. Contributing to this, the unit they recommended was 30% smaller than those proposed by competitors. It is critical o get the air conditioning unit the correct size - not too big and not too small. The unit installed by H&L has performed magnificently, cooling the house very quickly and without any clamminess. This has solved our humidity problems throughout the house even though the lower floor is not air conditioned! We were very pleased the H&L listened to our requirements and supplied a high quality, highly energy efficient Freon system. H&L quoted 6 weeks for the job but they took only 4. They came when they said they would and quickly resolved any issues - permits and parts. Highly recommended.
