All good but recommended an expensive enyzme treatment, which I'm leery about after reading pros and cons on the web.

Two techs came for initial inspection; they were professional and helpful. Paid the bill but never had follow-up for actual repair. Called their offices several times over the next month. Called Bill Hall directly. Despite promises, no estimate was provided or action taken to solve problem. No shows.

Tech was polite, etc., but overcharged significantly; about $300 for 1 hour of work and had to leave for an hour to get standard parts worth $30.  Reduced price by $50 after I called to complain about cost.
Response from Kaiser-Battistone
"I'm sorry that you were unhappy with the price. Sometimes a lot more goes into a job than the results show. Here are the technician's comments: Turn off water main drain water lines in house and replace leaking, nipple and angle stop. Installed new angle stop, toilet supply tube and 3/8" chrome nipple; also installed escutcheon on water line. Toilet on 2nd floor: turn on water, check for leaks, all okay. We did adjust the price as you stated and I hope that you are satisfied with the quality of the work."

Excellent service, right on time.  They use thermal imaging and mold spore sampling along with visual inspection and lab test results.  Unfortunately (or fortunately) we did not find the origin of the smell but have a better idea of what it could be.  I recommend this service!

They were here for about 45-60 minutes. They didn't want to give any senior discount or explain why it cost so much. They said it was just a flat fee. On their receipt there was mention of a program plan to pay less but they never explained it to me.

I called yesterday morning was was greeted by an extremely friendly and helpful staff member who quickly gave us a free estimate and happily accepted our Angie's List Membership discount coupon. Within 5 hours, another very nice worker came and quickly cleaned our septic and resolved our problems. If you want friendly service and fast results, I highly recommend Kaiser Battistone.

They have done this for us for many years. They come when they say they will be here and do a good job. Always clean up after themselves. They have even come when we were not at home and based on how our yard looked, you would hardly know they had been here.

"We are sorry that you're unhappy with the price. As you know, our technician assessed the situation, provided you with options where appropriate and gave you a firm upfront price that you approved before commencing with the work. It is easy for another service provider to say a price is high (or low) when looking at it from a distance. When someone contracts with us they are licensed, insured and trained technicians and they are backed up by our warranties. We may not be the least expensive (or most) but we are the best at what we do."

I didn't use them through Angie's List because the phone number in the lsting didn't work so I called them directly. I didn't get any discount but they solved the problem.
Response from Kaiser-Battistone
"I'm sorry that the number didn't work for you. We will send you a refund for the amount of the Angie's List discount."

We were very happy with this provider.  They were very clear about pricing and very reassuring about the way they approached the service.  We had to get our septic emptied / cleaned.  The tank apparently had not been emptied in years and we were not sure exactly where it was.  These guys came on time -- found the tank and took their time to empty and clean it.  We are very happy and would use them again.

When I first called to ask questions, they were very helpful. They had all the answers I needed, they directed me to other sources for information I didn't have (for example, the health department in town hall would have a record of the size of our septic tank since we had no idea), and they provided prices openly and willingly. I talked to them a couple of time for follow-up questions, and all went smoothly. Their prices were also lower for the smaller tanks (like the one we thought I might have), so since they had such good ratings, they were so good on the phone, their price was a bit lower than others I'd called, and they offered an Angie's List coupon, I took the plunge and set up an appointment for a Monday morning, first thing (the first appointment of the day). At about 10:00 am, no one had shown up and I had received no phone call, so I called them. They checked with their dispatcher and told me that the truck had suffered a flat tire and the technician was waiting for the service people/person to go help him and either fix the truck, or tow it back to the shop for repairs (or even so he could pick up another truck if available). I was asked if I wanted to wait for the technician or reschedule. Since I'd already taken the morning off work for this, we agreed that they'd call me in one hour (at 11:00 am) and give me a status and then we'd decide to keep or reschedule the appointment. At about 12:30 pm, having received no call at the agreed-upon 11:00 am, I called them back. No apology. Just what felt like a lame explanation that "the phones have been ringing off the hook" and because they'd been busy, no one had called me back (for 90 minutes!). I was told that the technician was on his way and would be arriving within the hour. I was given the option of keeping or rescheduling the appointment (which now was looking like 1:30 pm rather than first thing in the morning). Again, since I'd been home this whole time, I decided to press on and keep the appointment and get this done. At 1:47 pm, I received a call from their office with an update. I was told that the technician had ended up going back to the shop and picking up another truck. However, that truck needed to be emptied, so he had to stop by the dump first to empty the truck's tank. I was told that the technician was "on the highway" on the way to me. It's close to 2:00 pm, now, I have taken the entire day off work waiting. The truck arrived somewhere between 2:00 pm and 2:15 pm. The driver was not in a good mood. I don't know if it had something to do with his morning, or the fact that our driveway was slippery for the truck, but I got no apology or explanation or even acknowledgement of the fact that he was many hours late in arriving at my house. After some impressive driving by the technician, he was able to get the truck up the slippery driveway. Curt and grumpy, he asked where the septic tank was and I pointed out where I thought it might be. He said he saw it. He went over and poked around and dug until he found the opening and opened the tank. He then got his hoses, connected everything, and got the pumping started. It took a while to get the job done, and with time and some chit chat, he gradually softened and got less grumpy. I asked questions and he answered, and he ended up not grumpy and in a normal mood. I wouldn't call him giddy, but he was good-natured, open to Q&A, and relaxed. The work went off without a hitch, and he was professional and knowledgeable at his job. He then picked up his tools, closed up the tank, used his shovel to cover up what he'd dug up earlier, and stored everything on the truck. He then returned with a long tape measure and measured from the tank opening to two corners of the house in order to document the location of that opening for future reference. He then game me some advise on tank cleaning frequency based on the capacity of the tank and the number of people living at the house, and then produced the invoice. I received the Angie's List coupon discount and ended up paying $408 ? $50 = $358 for the cleaning of my approximately 1,100-gal tank. Over the phone, I had been quoted that $408 for a 1,250-gal tank. I know that the next step down was 1,000 gallons, so perhaps once it's over that level you have to pay the next higher rate? I'm not sure. He took my credit card number right there and gave me a receipt. As he was leaving, he thanked me again, this time lingering a bit. I asked my wife later if I was supposed to tip him, given that it felt like that feeling one gets when a service provider is waiting around for a tip but trying to not be obvious about it. Since this is my first time doing this service, I didn't know if I was supposed to tip. Because they'd been many hours late, I was not in the mood for tipping. In the end, the initial phone consultations went great, the work got done on the day it was scheduled, and it was done with professionally once the technician started actually doing the job. At the same time, the whole hours-long delay issue (plus their lack of informing me about it and the status), and the initial grumpy behavior of the technician were less than great. On balance, I'd be willing to use them again to give them an opportunity to do the job on a potentially more normal situation.

The job was performed quickly and efficiently, in a professional manner, and the area of my lawn that had to be dug up was replaced so well that it was hard to tell that any work had been done.
