After losing power from hurricane Sandy for over a week and ½. We promised ourselves to never let this happen again by setting up a professional generator solution. Grumman Electric came out and upgraded our home to an interlock kit that can support a plugin generator that will run outside our home. After having them on site they had an appointment ready for us in 2 business days and the total installation was completed in just a few hours. Now our home is ready for future outages that might happen in the unseen future thanks to Grumman Electric.
Recently we purchased a Chevy volt for commuting to work. A full charge (for under $1 a day) would give the car a 40 mile range on just electricity before running on gas. This saves our family over $360 a month on gas! The issue we had was the included 110v charger takes over 11 hours to charge the car. Per GM we were directed to the SPX 240v charging station. Grumman Electric?s team ran a 240v line from our circuit panel all the way to the other side of the house to a junction box. From the box they wired up the SPX charging station perfectly. Note the reason why we asked for the junction box and not a direct line to the SPX unit is in preparation for the future installation of a 2nd 240v charging station for a future 2nd EV car. Upon arriving home at 6pm our car plug right in to the 240v charger with no issues and was ready with a full 40 mile charge by 10pm for some late night shopping.
We cannot emphasize how important it is to have a service provider that you can trust in today?s economy. As our family are novices on how to properly setup a home with a generator. Grumman Electric did not try to upsell our family on things we did not need (IE.. transfer switches and auto switch over systems). Grumman Electric arrived on site in clean uniforms and a company truck. They are trustworthy and stand by their work. We will always refer them to anyone in the area and look forward to using them on future projects.
