Honest, reliable and totally dedicated to getting my TDI working. He did everything possible to stay within the estimate and He even took it to NY to get it inspected once the engine light finally stayed off! Who else does that? I have used East Ave twice now and they are just fantastic to deal with. I had a real budget constraint on my repair, so he called me to discuss which parts I should get NEW OEM and which ones I could buy rebuilt, to save a few hundred bucks in order to stay within my budget but NOT risk any problems with the car.
For the record, when I got my used Diesel, my old Euro Auto mechanic (who did a great job on my gas Audi), RECOMMENDED East Avenue to fix my diesel. That says a lot when a top mechanic suggests you use a "competitor", because he is that good! Lastly, He doesn't just fix what's broken, but gets the engine running in top form so you are good to go for miles and miles and tries to avoid future problems.
I have a car with very hard to find parts, as they only made it for 1 year and the company is out of business. Christian was able to track down springs for the car and install them in a reasonable amount of time considering the difficulty. There was none of the typical shadiness or surprises that all too often accompanies a trip to the garage. He has a good personality and seems to be a rare honest person.
He also alerted me to a missing fuel tank strap (this was legit), although he was unable to find a replacement part. He said he searched for several hours for the part and could not find one. I contacted 2 parts managers and a service manager that have been in the business for maybe 70 years, and they were unable to find the parts as well. I finally found someone selling the parts on Ebay and so I'll be sending my car back to him.
I feel fortunate to have found him on Angie's List and I think I'll be taking my cars back there in the future when I have to.
