I hired D&L last year to renovate parts of my lawn.  Initially, they were very responsive and got the job done on time and on budget. After that, things slowed down.  This year's treatments began late and the lawn showed little improvement.  In early August, I met with Lou to discuss tree work that needed to be done, but I never got a proposal and ended up going elsewhere for help. Too bad.  Nice people, but no follow-up and disappointing results.

As a first time home owner his work has helped me get the lawn in better shape much faster than I could have ever done on my own.

They did a very thorough job. Very professional

I have an acre of property with 1/3 cleared and leveled with grass maintenance needed. I had another service that was unreliable with the dates they would schedule so I opted to try another company. Calling this service was almost a turnoff initially, there could be an improvement of customer service over the phone. However he is straightforward and to the point. I called on a Saturday and he inspected my property by the next Monday. I received a voicemail with a quote and decided to move forward. D&L scheduled me for the very next day, which I thought was amazing. The crew came without much disturbance, did a great job in under a 45 minute time-span, and left without disturbing me during my work. I am not easily impressed, but these guys get the job done with very little hassle. I will be using their services bi-weekly and I highly recommend them based on the first visit.
I will sacrifice excellent phone service if the company does what they are contracted for. I have recommended their service to my surrounding neighbors. The job was well done.
Pros - Fast Service, Hassle free, Attention to detail when performing maintenance.
Cons- None so far.

Update - I have contracted these guys for Snow removal service as well and they are great. They can show up on a last minute request. They don't do early morning services though

They were fair and they are nice people.

D&L was our first Angie's List company.  We have been very happy with the maintenance work they have provided.  They have also helped when request for seasonal & storm cleanup.  We are moving out of state which is why we will no longer use their services, but we would recommend to anyone looking for a dependable, reasonably priced service to hire them.

D&L did a very nice job trimming shaping very overgrown fruit trees and removing branches from a tree where the branches were hanging on our electrical wires. They were prompt and professional and cleaned up the yard when they were done.  I will use them again.

Although we continue to use D&L for many other landscaping projects, this review concerns the initial major project that D&L undertook for us in June.  The home we just purchased was woefully overrun with too many weeds and too much foliage.  Lou and his company came, inspected the property, and performed a blessed miracle in restoring the landscape to its former beauty.  We are excited each week to see the changes and transformation he and his team make.  We look forward to a long-term relationship with D&L.

Extremely positive experience.  A huge tree came down in a rainstorm across my driveway on a Friday late afternoon.  I found Lou on Angie's List and he had his guys there within 45 minutes.  It was pouring rain and they worked diligently to cut up the tree so I could get in and out of my driveway.  His price was extremely fair and the work was excellent.  I would highly recommend them.

Very well handled

The last time I called Don at D & L, I needed a dying dogwood removed from my yard. My yard is small and we weren't sure his equipment would be able to get back there, but he assured us it would be no problem. We were at work when the work was done and when we got home, the tree was gone. The only evidence that anyone had been there was the absence of the tree. They took everything away and if not for the missing tree, we would not have known anyone was back there.

D&L has been a very good company to deal with.  It is a small group and family run.  Our only issue was that there were items that were invoiced that were not on their estimate upfront.  For instance, the  mulching alone did not include the cost of the mulch on the estimate even though there was no breakdown of the line item.  Other than that, we have been pleased with the quality of work and professionalism of the team.  We have hired them to do our regular yard maintenance every two weeks.

They were great. They did what they said they were going to do. They made the other companies look pretty stupid. One company wanted a full $1600 for the job.

I had used their services to grind a stump when I moved into my home in 1997. I never saw them at that time. I made all the arrangements over the phone, the job was done, I paid and that was that. Since then, I've been doing all my own yard work, but needed some serious work done this year. I called a tree service that my neighbor uses and got an outrageous price estimate plus they were going to leave it to me to clean up the debris they created. Then I remembered D&L. Don came and gave me a much lower estimate for cutting down my dogwood, including clean-up, so I hired him on the spot with a hand shake. He did the work as promised (again, I wasn't home, but they were great... If my tree hadn't been missing, I wouldn't have known they were there). I was so impressed that I called again to have my pruning work done. Again, a job well done and well cleaned up, all for a very reasonable price. The only negative was that it took him quite a few weeks to get back to me about the pruning work. I had to call him a couple of times to remind him that I still wanted the work done. But it got done and I'm very happy with the result. I will use them again.

I THINK THEY ARE A DECENT SMALL COMPANY FOR SERVICE. IT IS JUST A SIMPLE CUT AND BLOW. THEY ARE RESPONSIVE. EVERY WEEK THEY ARE HERE ON TIME. THEY ARE HARD WORKING, AND THEY DO THE JOB.
