I found them on Angie's List and sent them a message through the Angie's List messaging center. I gave them my phone number and asked that they call me,  but they never returned my message or reached out to me in any way.

The work they did looks excellent, the installation was professional, and I anticipate the new fence will last my life-time and beyond. Now I will be careful to remove ice from the steps without salt.  Notwithstanding winter, the new fence is rock solid and doesn't budge when forcefully shaken by me.  The finish is semi-gloss black and makes the entrance more attractive than it's been before.
There is one minor point I'd make for improvement.  The job was estimated to be done in four weeks.  It actually took eight weeks from the day I mailed in the deposit.  It would be better to over-estimate the time of installation than guess too soon.  I get it.  The work they do is excellent so their work is in high demand straining their schedule to deliver in a short turnaround.  I would be happy to wait eight weeks again for their work because it's so well done, so simply let me know that's when it's scheduled.
Otherwise I was delighted with the quality and professionalism of their work.  Excellent!

I contacted Renata about having a new gate installed on our pool fence. Renata came out the next morning to discuss the project but determined the company would not be able to perform the work because it was against city code for safety. I appreciated her advising me of the risk.

I contacted Artistic Iron Works to inquire about either replacement or a repair of my existing metal railings. I had them come out and measure the last week of January 2013. The man who took the measurements said he would write up an estimate, but he could give me a rough idea on the spot. He said a repair would look awful, as the railings had been repaired in the past by someone without aesthetic skill(my father in law). He showed me that the previous repair had been sturdy enough for a time, but that to make it safe and look good his recommendation was a complete replacement.
I got the contract in the mail on the 4th of February. I accepted the proposal to replace the railings with 1 3/4and quot; handrail molding, and 1and quot; posts, and a pattern of straight and twisted 1/2and quot; square pickets.
I was told at the time of the measurement that the lead time on the project was probably going to be 4-5 weeks. I mailed a deposit check and a signed contract back to them on the 11th of February.
I contacted Artistic Iron Works on Thursday March 14th and left a message asking for an update on progress. That date would be about 4 full weeks after I mailed the check, allowing for mailing time. I called again on Monday March 18th and left another message. I received a return call later on the 18th saying that the railings were not completed yet, and if they were not done at the end of the week(March 22nd) they would be done the first week of April.
I was contacted Monday April 8th and asked if installation could be performed either Thursday or Friday the 11th or 12th of April. I informed them it was fine, I wanted the railings installed and I would be home all week. Tuesday April 9th I was called at 8:16am and was asked if today would be good, they had an opening in the installation schedule. I agreed, and they arrived at 8:50am to begin work.
The work was done quickly and efficiently, the gentleman who did most of the drilling and anchoring was pleasant and courteous. He told me that they used a heavy duty construction epoxy under the mounting to both assist in securing the railings but to aid in sealing the surface cracks present in the concrete steps.
Overall I was pleased with the workmanship and installation, but the office communication could have been better. The time estimates were off, almost 8 weeks compared to the 4-5 quoted, I think that could have been handled a little better.

They were not able to help me, and they helped greatly by referring me to another company.

THE QUALITY OF WORKMANSHIP WAS SUPERB AND WAS COMPLETED AS PROMISED. I WILL USE THIS VENDOR AGAIN BECAUSE OF HIS RELIABILITY AND HIS PUNCTUALITY. PRICE QUOTED WAS GREAT.
