He took me to a place within a mile and a half of my home where he had done work and the owner pronounced himself satisfied so we decided to use him. We agreed on a price and after he dug up the driveway he found that there seemed to be water running underneath the pavement. He said that he would put a drainage pipe running down the side of our land and he said he had done this for a number of other houses so he knew what he was doing. The ground was wet and the crew destroyed my side yard with their equipment. I should have stopped them when I first saw the problem, but I didn?t. They put in the drainage and they repaved. I noticed water welling up out of the ground near the area so I brought it to his attention. He said we would have to be off of the pavement for 2 weeks or so which we could not do. Shortly after he paved, there was a heavy rainstorm and water came off the hill, dug channels into the hill that he and his men had destroyed, and then it washed out part of the driveway. My wife discovered a spring and it took her only three hours and a hoe to fix the problem. Within a week a part of the driveway started to collapse and he said he would fix it in the spring. The pipeline became exposed and it became obvious that they did not dig down a foot, they did not line the trench with pea gravel, and they laid the pipe around large rocks and roots rather than removing them. He came back out twice that spring and he said he would do what was necessary to fix the mess. That was the last time I saw him; he stopped responding to my calls and I believe he changed his phone number. My opinion is that he is liar and thief. He told me that he has done a lot of this drainage work but he clearly has not. I do not recommend hiring him, and if you do I would watch him the whole time. He deals only in cash and that should have set off alarm bells but it did not. He charged $5000 for the pipe fiasco. We have recovered the yard to some extent but some of the damage has not been fixed. Also, he used a low grade of asphalt and we started to be able to shovel the rocks out when we were removing snow that winter.
