About us

House of Hanbury is the 3rd generation of Hanburys in the residential construction industry, and we bring that wealth of knowledge and experience to every job we do. Cutting corners or doing the job just good enough are not part of our vocabulary and we pledge to exceed the quality as described in the booklet 'Residential Construction Performance Guidelines'. We do stipulated fixed price contracts. We provide written estimates for insurance repair, possible new home purchase walk throughs for a nominal fee. We provide design services on all projects we build for a nominal fee applied to the construction price. We pull all permits on your behalf. We are a Certified Firm as required by the EPA and have 2 certified renovators on staff for Lead Paint Safe remodeling and repairs. We do historic renovation work with 3 West Hartford Historic Preservation awards to date. Bob Hanbury has the Certfied Graduate Remodeler, (CGR), designation from NAHB, held since 1989. Alan Hanbury Jr, has the CGR designation 1990, Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS),designation 2003, Certified Green Professional, (CGP) designation in 2009 and Graduate Master Remodeler, (GMR) in 2010, one of only 25 in the country. WONDERFUL, THEY CAME ON TIME, DID THE WORK THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD DO, AND WHEN THEY MISCOMPUTED THE COST, THEY ATE THE DIFFERENCE BECAUSE WE HAD A WRITTEN CONTRACT. THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM.

Project was delayed for a week due to rain, but entire project time was approximately the same as the original estimate. Bob Hanbury covered all of the proposed work in extensive detail up front, and provided various options that we had not considered. All costs were clearly expained and the final amount was nearly the same as original estimate (additional amount was for water damage discovered and remediated during construction). A few items needed correction during the project, but Bob was quick to respond, come out to the house, review the issues, and remediate everything to my complete satisfaction. Communications by phone and e-mail were prompt and frequent. Everyone was very friendly and professional. This is the third project for which we have contracted House of Hanbury Builders and have never been disappointed. Would highly recommend them for any home remodeling or buiding project. They may cost a little bit more than other contractors, but you more than get what you pay for.

The remodel started on time and was completed when originally estimated. Someone was here doing work every day of the project. Bob Hanbury communicated very frequently and clearly, so that we knew the status of the job and any issues which may have come up. We were extremely happy with both the process and the results and will contact Hanbury Builders for future remodeling projects. The caveat is that they are very expensive, but excellent communication and results, and peace of mind are worth it to us.

WE WERE VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE WORK THEY DID. THE TILES IN THE BATHROOM CRACKED RIGHT AWAY BECAUSE THERE WAS NO SUPPORT BEHIND THEM. THE RAILING FOR THE DECK RAMP BARELY PASSED INSPECTION, AND THE FAN IN THE BATHROOM BROKE. IT WAS RIDICULOUS!
