The issue that I had with Pat was his billing. I knew his hourly rate and from having enough of contractors come through our house, I generally know what to expect with the way they round up on the time (some by the hour, some by the 1/2 hour).
Pat was just at the 2 hour mark on our property and then went to write out the invoice in his truck. While writing out the invoice, he took a service call for another job that pushed him 5 MINUTES into the next 1/2 hour on my time, for which he billed me!
When I questioned the extra $75 on the bill, he told me that it is his practice because he doesn't charge travel time. And I said, and quot; But you were writing out my invoice! You are billing me an extra half hour for the 5 minues it took you to bill me? That's not right.and quot; He would not back down and said that's how he does it. I told him it is good thing that I don't treat my own customers that way.
So he got my extra $75, but lost a customer and has earned a bad review for it.
