I have been dealing with SLS for many years so I figured that this would be another easy transaction. I couldn't be further from the truth. The person that came out was professional and did a fine job until he told me the price and said that the part that he replaced costs $240.00. This is a readily available part that can be purchased from any supply house for less than $50.00 and I was aware of that. When I tried to call SLS to speak to them about this no one would return my call. When I emailed them a week later still no one would contact me. Stay away from this company!

My realtor felt she made it clear to SLS that an annual cleaning along with an inspection/whole system evaluation was being requested. The documentation that was provided to me only showed a cleaning and replacing a mixing valve body in order to be able adjust the water temperature. When I called SLS, to see if they had any additional information or impressions on the system, they seemed defensive and stated only cleaning was requested and that whole system evaluation/inspection was not included in that service. During the first 2 weeks of moving into and living in the home, there was clear evidence of air in the zones, I had an incident where the flue piping vibrated loose due to being left improperly secured (also dumped out a good deal of soot in the process, vacuuming the flue piping was supposedly part of SLS's cleaning service), and the domestic hot water was not delivering hot water properly. I had the boiler serviced again by a different and very well regarded oil delivery and boiler service company. They found evidence of a poorly executed cleaning, improper aquastat temperature setting, a bad air vent, a collapsed combustion chamber and, in their opinion, replaced mixing valve internals in an older body. The overall system evaluation was that the boiler needed to be replaced as the collapsed combustion chamber was both a possible CO gas release hazard and a fire hazard. All in all, there are many opportunities for miscommunication and misinterpretation in my experience. But there is plenty to show that proceeding with SLS should be done with caution.

I didn't feel like they knew what they were doing. They came to the house three times and ended up making the problem worse than before. They were responsive in refunding a portion of the cost of the service back to us.

New furnace was installed in my Uncasville home. It did not passed town inspector's inspection at first. It passed inspection on 2nd time, but the furnace stoped working before Thanksgiving day. The baseboard they installed on my second floor was not nicely done - the pipes exposed outside of the baseboards.

Overall it went well. It was a good thing I stayed home to observe the work. The installers almost installed the large head unit in the wrong room. They had to drill a second hole for the freon/power lines in the interior wall as a result. Secondly, there are 3 filters per head unit and they installed only one. When I inquired, they said they didn't know where the other filters were supposed to go, so they have never installed them. I had to show them how to install them (It clearly describes their location in the users manual). This was a little surprising that they had never read the manual. All in all, we got 3 bids and they were the low bidder by about $1000, so we went with SLS. The system has been in for several months and it's working great.
