Called ahead to make an appointment. Was treated courteously and professionally. Brought car in at appointed time and left it. Was called next day with diagnosis and options. Authorized the repairs and they were completed ahead of schedule. They noticed that I was down two quarts of oil (a recurring problem with this make and model) and even called me to ask permission to add oil. Wow! Wish I'd found these guys years sooner. Professional, efficient, fair prices, excellent!

Excellent service as usual. I didn't have much done this time, but I wouldn't hesitate to go back again. Very friendly, very prompt, and well priced. I would highly recommend.

Excellent - I needs a routine oil change and wipers replaced. Also had them check out a couple of noises. Did not scare me into services I didn't need - very honest and very fair estimates. One of only two auto shops I recommend to friends and family.

The only reason to not go to these goes is the neighborhood they're in. Myself, an adult male, felt fine (there's a playground right across the street and it's all pretty well kept houses), but my mother-in-law who was behind me to give me a ride home was visibly uncomfortable (it's not one of New Haven's premiere communities if you know what I mean). So if you're squeamish about those things then maybe you want to go someplace in Milford or something, but I was totally happy with the service these guys provided and at a great price. Good to find one of the old school mechanics still making it happen this day and age.

When I was growing up in New Haven, my father used to take his foreign cars to Ray for service and I have taken my car to Ray for about 15 years. He really knows his stuff, but more important, he is incredibly honest and not out to make a buck. An example is when my side mirror was broken and I asked him if he could get a replacement and install it. Instead he suggested I trace the mirror and take it to the local glass place and have them cut a replacement and then I could glue it in myself for a big savings! If he removes any parts from your car he shows them to you when you go to pick it up. He will check for problems and let you know if anything does or does not need to be done. For example, I had a CV boot that needed to be replaced. When I suggested he replace the one on the opposite side while he was at it he told me it didn't need to be done. Don't be surprised if Ray is a bit gruff - that's just how he is. Underneath is a heart of gold.

They are very trustworthy and honest. They always do a great job and I will continue to use SKF for all my auto service needs.
