I have been going here for a good 7-8 years now! They are incredible. All they do is handle cats. They are a husband and wife team. I have a had a lot of pets over the years and I have gotten to work with them both. I have had a couple of pets with serious illnesses, unfortunately, but they have treated and even had to put down pets in the past. They are very honest and straightforward. They are pet owners themselves so they understand the emotional connection. Their education and their practice is top of the line. They both came from good schools and they are just good people all-around. The staff have been the same throughout the years! The staff are knowledgeable, caring, and professional.

We have lived in a number of different cities and states across the country. With each new place we are always challenged to find a qualified veterinarian to care for our beloved cats. New to Connecticut and the New Haven area, we needed to find a local vet. With an annual exam date coming up for one cat, we could have easily taken her to a vet hospital blocks from our home, but my husband did his research and decided to try New England Cat Care because of the strong reviews he had read about Dr. Richter. My husband was thrilled with his experience at NECC. In his words and quot;Dr. Richter and Danielle are by far two of the most considerate, knowledgable and caring professionals I've ever seen. Dr. Richter spent over an hour with me and answered every question I had about all five of my cats, not just the one I had there for the yearly visit. I do not inpress easily and tend to be very skeptical when approaching a new veterinarian. But with all honesty, this will be the only vet I use while living in CT. I'm overwhelmed by the service provided and I can't recommend NECC enough if you have a feline family. Don't hesitate. Make an appointment! Thank you Danielle and Dr. Richter!!!!! You made my week!!and quot;
Needless to say, we will going back to see Dr. Richter at NECC as each annual exam date rolls aroung for our other cats and for any of out veterinarian needs.

It is perhaps odd to describe an experience of loss as positive. But the way in which the staff helped me was very important. I took my cat to them knowing deep down that there was probably nothing that could be done to save him. I didn't know them at all, but my experience with my previous vet was so negative that I sought them out via referrals from friends. When I entered, I began filling out paperwork while the initial examination took place (with my girlfriend). When the Doctor entered, he quickly identified the problem and gently, understandingly, explained the options.
Through my tears, I asked the questions I needed to ask. He didn't rush us. He let us take our time. As much as we needed.
Such a combination of professionalism and humanity is becoming increasingly rare. I would, without any reservation at all, recommend these fine people.

I was introduced to NECC when my male cat became ill last summer with cystitis. I had recently moved to the area and called them when I noticed that there was blood in my cat's urine. Even though I was not an existing client at that point, they immediately fit me in for an appointment that same day. I can't say enough good things about these vets. The facility is clean and cheerful and the staff is amazing. They spent a lot of time with me and my cat and were very thorough and caring. I had to leave my kitty there overnight and Dr. Richter called later that evening just to reassure me that my boy was doing well. I had to bring him back and forth a few times before he was completely on the mend, and the staff and both vets were extremely supportive throughout the whole experience. The following October I brought both of my cats in for a routine exam and shots and, again, was extremely happy with the experience. My female cat can be very aggressive at the vet, but they had her under control from the beginning and, even though she was still anxious, it was the calmest I'd ever seen her at a vet's office. The prices are not inexpensive, but the quality of care is worth it. I definitely will continue to bring my cats to this practice. If I had one negative thing to say, it is that I wish they had evening and/or Saturday hours. Currently they are only open Mon-Fri 9-5.
