I was told by the gentleman working there that I could pick up my dress on Thursday and it would be ready. I went to Martone's first thing Thursday morning and he told me to come back at 3 PM because it wasn't done. I returned at 3 PM and I inspected the dress before leaving. I saw something didn't look right with the front when it was on the hanger. I was mortified to see that it looked like the front of my dress was undone and maybe ripped. I told him that my dress didn't look right and he insisted that it was like that when he got it, which I assure you, the dress was in perfect condition before it was cleaned.
I put the dress on in their fitting room and saw the damage. The front flopped open and you could see the seams on the front inside of my dress, there was a gap that wasn't there before. I came out and showed him the front and he shook his head and repeatedly denied that the damage had occured there. I told him that the dress was never worn out (it was brand new) and that there were other women with the exact same dress and the front wasn't like this. When he realized there were other dresses like mine to compare to, he paused for a moment, stared at me and said, "Ok, take pictures of the other girls dresses and show me and come back and I will help you".
Unfortunately, the wedding was the same weekend and I was leaving for NY in a few hours. I didn't have time to wait for the other bridesmaids to get out of work to take pictures of their dresses to send to me and then wait for him to attempt to fix the dress. I also didn't trust him at this point, so I didn't bother bringing it back. Thankfully I had a family member who gently sewed the front of the dress to secure and close the gap before I left for NY that evening so I could wear it for the wedding. Thankfully it was a quick fix.
If you have a delicate garment or need cleaning services for something right before a big event, don't go here. You might be running around trying to get it fixed last minute! I won't be returning to Martone's, the gentleman that works there wasn't helpful and even though I had already been there for alterations and spent a good amount of money there, he wouldn't help and denied responsibility for the damage to the front of my dress. All I wanted was the dress fixed, even if he had offered to give me a partial refund for the cleaning since it resulted in damage would have been thoughtful, but no.
I will say the seamstress is good, she did a nice job but she is only present on Wednesdays from 8 am - 12 PM if you need to wear the item that needs alterations.
