We hired Lana Nguen to design a fireplace. We have a tricky space between two windows in a two-story living room, and we wanted someone professional get the fireplace right. We made our expectations very clear â design a fireplace and provide all measurements. Lana agreed, but as we later learnt she never measured the space (point A to B, from window to window) and relied on some device, which as she later admitted â is inherently incorrectâ . She indicated all measurements on the drawing, but never told us, her clients, that her measurements are approximate, and we had no clue. If this is how you do business, it is fine, but either warn your client or donâ t include measurements at all and let someone knowledgeable figure it out! We gave Lanaâ s documentation to a stone company, and they fabricated and installed a marble fireplace, which is too big. It is stuck between the windows and is clearly out of proportion with the rest of the room. I am heartbroken every time I look at it. It was supposed to be the centerpiece of the house. It was very costly, and the redo is a fortune! We had a Zoom meeting with the firmâ s owner, Jonathan Gordon, and he was so rude, pointing his finger and screaming at us! He blamed everyone but himself and so did Lana Nguen. Eventually, Jonathan Gordon stopped responding to our emails, which only proves that this firm is absolutely unprofessional and unwilling to fix problems when they arise. Itâ s a shame such companies exist! STAY AWAY from them! Lastly, let me point out that Lana Nguen found the design of our fireplace on Pinterest and reproduced it, so we found her neither creative nor competent.

Jonathan is great at using state of the art software to help you visualize your project.The detailed plans he created helped our contractor d o a great job of implementation. Michelle is very talented with color and designing space you can live in comfortably. Together , they made remodeling a three bedroom , two bath apartment easy. We would highly recommend them

Jonathan had good insight on unconventional problems which really helped with our project. Older homes always have little surprises which thinking with an experienced eye really helped.

As first time suburban homeowners whose previous home was a small apartment in New York City, we knew immediately that we would need help decorating. I reached out to Design by Jonathans online and heard back from them instantly. Our first phone discussion left me knowledgeable about the process and how we would work together. I was feeling overwhelmed with having several empty rooms - no furniture, no rugs, nothing but Jonathan reassured me that he would lead us through the process step by step. And that's what they did! Brilliant, humorous, talented, patient, trustworthy, flexible are all adjectives I'd use to describe Jonathan during the time spent with him. He went above and beyond - answering texts about bar stools, patiently scrolling long internet pages to find the perfect pillows/rugs/wall hangings and answering every email promptly. He was always on time for our appointments and was always prepared. I think he was great at finding pieces that both appealed to what my husband and I both liked. I'm sure this isn't an easy task. He was filled with lots of great advice and we trusted him when he said 'If you don't love it now, you won't like it later. Let's keep looking.' We would have been lost without him. We have some beautiful spaces in our new home thanks to his hard work and keen eye. I can't recommend him enough. He also is talented in the lighting / audio space as well as it was his suggestion we add several more ceiling lights to the dark living room. Wow, what a difference. He respected our budget as well and never pushed us. I'm thankful for the experience and have received so many compliments on our new home.

You cannot go wrong using Jonathan. I have used at least 3 interior decorators over the past 10 years and what set Jonathan apart from the others was his ability to really "see" my vision of the space and THEN expand upon my vision with ideas of his own that were completely in alignment with what I wanted. At our first meeting I found myself saying, "YES!" to almost everything he suggested. He is truly a master in design ideas. I absolutely love my space. He helped me design my living room/office, kitchen and dining room in my condo. My place is now completely unique from my complementary paint colors, to the chandelier in my office space, to the stainless steel highlighting my gas fireplace, to my tin ceilings, to my custom handmade walnut coffee table, to my custom dining table from Turkey! Jonathan also designed my lighting in every room . Even my Kitchen has bling (which I love!) and tons of light so I can see what I am cooking now. I have fantastic rope lighting in a recessed tray ceiling in my living room and super cool track lighting in my dining room. He is a genius in design. If you want something truly fantastic and unique, call Jonathan, you will not be disappointed.

My husband and I brought our home almost 10 years ago and completed several projects but then stalled. I suffered 9+ years with a poorly designed master bathroom. On a whim I started looking for Interior Decorators and found Jonathan. The process to redo a bathroom was overwhelming at times but Jonathan was there to reassure us all would turn out fine. Somehow he was able to combine the needs of both my husband and I to produce a master bathroom that we both love. We have several other projects that we wish to complete and I have no doubt they will come out as we envision with his expert help and organization skills. I would highly recommend Jonathan.

I had never used an interior decorator either locally or through home advisor so I did not know what to expect. Jonathan is extremely knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. He is well organized and manages time very well. He is working with us on our living room and dining room...furnishings and decor from scratch. We are so very pleased with the results and would highly recommend Jonathan.

Jonathan's step by step approach took an overwhelming (to me) project and made it easy. The contractors he found to complete the work were fantastic and the end product is perfect. From the start, he proved his listening skills and never pushed his vision but focused on mine. Shopping for furniture and design accessories was a pleasure - there again he was focused on what I liked and envisioned versus his "design plan." The redesigned family room is exactly what we were looking for - and better due to his knowledge and finesse. We would definitely use him again and recommend him highly.

If I could give a rate above an "A" Jonathan would truly get it! I have never met anyone so professional, so dedicated and so knowledgeable in what they do. It was an honor to work with him. Not only did Jonathan address our concerns about adding a garage and porch and maybe an update to our kitchen, he pointed out to my husband and I that both our ideas could work for the redesign project. Jonathan put together designs for our kitchen and bathroom suite. Great to work with - we loved his ideas and he's always been responsive to any questions we've had as we make our way through the projects.

I bought a new house, painted 80%, and started fluttering. I needed help picking paint colors, and focusing my search for bathroom tile, and drapes, and finishing... Too many options, and with a full time job, I was overwhelmed by anxiety. Jonathan helped me focus, make decisions, and I am THRILLED with the results. I tried 6 shades of blue in one room, and Jonathan helped me realize I should paint it PINK. Even my husband loves the color we picked. And my mother! And my mother-in-law (the witch). I am thrilled with Jonathan. He's worth every penny!
