No charge. They had to do it because of the recall. Its a kind of thing that takes all day, and its not very convenient. I guess have a different attitude towards the customer. The way that other companies do.

Next month, I'm going to have an oil change again and probably the antifreeze changed to get ready for winter. It's a good car. I don't drive that much. The car only got 70,000 miles on it. The car is in good mechanical condition. It's free lifetime oil change there. When I bought the car, that's what they do and Toyota still does that. Otherwise it would cost $35 to have the oil changed. Sometimes they have a tendency when they change the oil, I have to remind them to only fill the oil up to the dip stick full line. Very frequently, they overfill it and I have to have them correct the situation. They put oil with an automatic thing and sometimes the stupid thing goes over. I have to watch that. I tell a lot of people that if they go out of a garage and think everything is run before it, it's not. We have to check it ourselves. I do my own air pressure on the car and make sure my air pressure is 35 pounds. I had garages put air pressure in it and it went from 28 pounds to 38 pounds all over the back and I don't like that. I had to double check what they did to my car to make sure I'm satisfied. Dealerships are sometimes a little bit high but I prefer to have my car 100% Toyota so I'm willing to pay for it. I had to go back and say they missed something or they left something loose, I keep track of it. There are mechanics who don't take the time to give me the class A workmanship that they should so we should keep an eye on them. I have monitored the things that were done to the car. I don't take their word for it. I had a problem with a gasket leak on the car 3 years ago and the guy that changed the gasket on the oil pan down there cracked the exhaust pipe. I brought the car back and they changed it for nothing. They generally do a good job, but I watch it. They are good now with their responsiveness because they know me. I am a friend of the general manager there. He takes care of me. When I go there, the service advisers there all know me so they get the job done right. They are very good. When I call and I need an appointment, they give it to me right away. They are good people. I usually make the appointment for early in the morning so I'm one of the first ones that they get. I'm out of there within an hour. They are very courteous. When you buy a Japanese or Korean car, you always get a call from the general headquarters and they actually ask how was it and if they treated me right. They want to know. This is the second Toyota I bought. I bought one in the '80s and then I traded it for this one. I had 150,000 miles on the '86 so as long as this car is running like it's running which is like new, I'll keep it. No problem with it. It's very powerful and it takes me where I want to go, and it's dependable.

My son is at college an hour away and his car vibrates a little when the speed is over 60 mph. We told him that perhaps the car needed to have its transmission oil changed, even though the mileage seems to be low at 74,000.
He took his car to a local Toyota dealer last Friday. The shop told him that the transmission oil is ok but talked him into other repairs totaling $3235.  Being naive, he agreed to have his car repaired. When I happened to call him the next morning and learned about this 'deal', I told him to call the shop immediately and have them suspend the work. When he called at 11:30 am, the shop told him that the repair was done around 11am and he could pick up the car.
The labor cost is $2128. The hourly rate is $95. So that's 22.4 hours of work. The invoice shows that there was a 3 hours wait before any work was started. So the maximum time that they could spend on the car is about 7.5 hours and I doubt that even (shop opens 7:30 - 7:00pm Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 5pm Saturday)
One big item is 'reinstall timing chain'. The bill shows 18 hours of labor which amounts to $1710 plus $84.50 parts. The total labor and parts is $1794.50.
The water pump was replaced and no labor was associated with this item. The water pump costs $281 in addition to $1794.50.
Here's the description for the 18 hours work alone:
R&R FRONT ENGINE TIMING COVER TO ACCESS GASKET SURFACES
FOR SEALANT APPLICATION.
PROCEDURE INCLUDES REMOVAL OF FRONT ENGINE COMPONENTS.
VALVE COVER GASKET, R&R ENGINE MOUNTS & SUBFRAME REMOVAL WHEN APPLICABLE.
REINSTALL TIMING CHAIN. REALIGHNING GEAR & CHAIN AS REQUIRED.
We think that he got suckered big time but it's my son's own fault for being so trusting without seeking a second opinion. I called the shop manager and told him that another Toyota dealer sent me a 10% coupon via email. He did honor that and gave my son a big FAT 10% off the bill. Lessons learned. Run don't walk away from this dealer.

It appears that A-1 service attempts to take advantage of women who know little about cars. I later rode my motorcycle to A1 Toyota to speak with the Service Department. The Manager who gave my wife the estimates had left for the day. I spoke to another Service Manager who admitted that the price appeared to be highly inflated.

This dealer does not haggle on price - he accepts only the listed price. The price that I paid for the certified used Camry was 1% lower than what Edmunds stated should be the price of an "outstanding" dealer certified used car, and was 3% higher than Edmunds' price for a "clean" dealer certified used car. (Yes, I input all of the proper info on Edmunds' website - such as dealer zip code, car trim level, mileage, color, options). Given that the actual car that I bought was closer to "outstanding", I feel that I got a good, if not an excellent deal, deal.

Great! My last service was a routine oil change. I was in and out in a jiffy. They give free oil changes for life (if you buy the car from them), and you don't even need to make an appointment for routine service such as an oil change.

Technically, it went well. They are prompt, they contact you well, drop off and pick up is very good. The quality of their work seems fine. My problem is that they seem very expensive, part costs are considerably higher even than at other Toyota dealers in the area. Labor costs are also very high. I certainly approve quality people being paid well, but I think everything at A-1 is about 30% more than seems the norm. I just paid $880 for routine 30,000 mile, service with some brake work added, and was told I also needed a new water pump, the installed price quoted was $550. Another Toyota dealer in the area quoted me $350 for the same water pump service. I can't help but feel the customer's costs very quickly escalate. Perhaps this is due to their large new facility and large staff. Perhaps too it is the fault of the vehicle itself. I was sold on Toyotas because of my perfect experience with a 1993 Tercel, which I bought new, and had no serious or expensive problems with for 10 years/240,000 miles (I always did the routine maintenance). My 2006 Scion, with only 31,000 miles on it, has cost a lot more, and I've always had the routine maintenance done. I had a $850 bill for an emissions system problem late last year; after a lot of contact with Scion, they did refund me the price of the parts (the dealer offered no help in this aspect!), because I think they realized it was a faulty part, but I still paid $350 for labor, just to get it past inspection, for a car with less than 30,000 miles. Now the water pump is going to cost $550 to replace. The water pump on my Tercel lasted the entire 10 years, 250,000 miles. This all makes me unhappy. Inflation is low, on one hand, and getting money is not exactly easy, on the other, so these high prices just seem to be escalating. When you've had such a very good experience with one vehicle and then such a change, if you're on a tight budget, that hurts. A-1 didn't make the vehicle (and I generally do like the car as such; it has been comfortable, sensible and gets good mileage), but they don't help with their high prices. They are polite and efficient, and their location near my home is most convenient for me. But I will look around for second opinions in the future.

Excellent. A1 Toyota provides free oil changes for the life of the vehicle (if you buy the car from them). The facility is large and comfortable. The staff is friendly and courteous. There is a large waiting area for customers. There is even a quiet area with wifi.

They are very good. They have fixed other things on my car and have done a good job. they are very reasonable and don't try to upsell me. They advise me of my options but don't try to scare me of doing things I don't need to.

They had someone drive me back to my apartment and he was really nice. They were close enough and got the job done pretty quickly. They were fine and they are pretty responsive. I probably will take my vehicle there again.

The process at A1 Toyota is really easy and simple. Like most places, they can be pretty backed up, but the work they do is worth it. Their customer service is really good and their work stands for itself.
