"Thank you, It's a pleasure to work for someone who appreciates our efforts."
"I was quite surprised to see this review. The work involved power washing the driveway side of the house then stain it one coat. Stain the lower front section of the house. Spray moss killer on front roof shingles. Repair shed and stain left and front side one coat. Seal the driveway. At no time did you bring up any damage to your house or garage door to me or anyone of my three employees working there. you did comment on a couple of areas on the house you thought had been missed with the stain and we got the ladders back out and did those areas again right in front of you. Also you were supposed to be responsible for filling the cracks in the driveway prior to us sealing it. Due to your medical condition you were unable to complete this task and we did it for you at no additional charge. I would also like to mention the fact that you were not happy with the driveway once it was sealed so we did a second coat at no additional charge. Now I know we both live in the same private community of which I am the President of the community. And I would hope that the reason for this review has nothing to do with the law suit involving the community and the residents living on your road."
Do get a FIRM written estimate, otherwise he'll charge you whatever he wants.
Do ask him if he'll actually be doing the work. In our case he was unable to do the work himself and was simply the middleman, for which he padded the price, and then some.
Do not pay him until you are satisfied with the job. The person who did our job did not really finish, which we didn't notice until a few days later when we looked at it closely.
When we questioned his bill and gave him a chance to save face, his answer was "I do not give free estimates." That really made us mad as he had done other jobs for us and always gave free estimates.
We wanted to give the local guy (Ron Walker) the business, but he flat out didn't treat us well. No one deserves to be ripped off!
In the end, it was our own fault for trusting him and not getting a firm quote this time.
There are plenty of folks out there who can do work for you- choose someone else!
"I never said I don't give free estimates, I have given you free estimates in the past. I said I couldn't give you a quoted price because the work involved moving a kitchen recessed light fixture then patch any holes once the wiring was re-routed , sand and prime the patches. You were charged by the hour. I was there during the moving of the recessed light and changing the wiring. I then left my employee there to patch, sand and prime the areas on the ceiling. I have no idea where you come up with me out sourcing the job. He was and still is my employee. Out of all the categories on Angie's list to grade a business on, the only one you can honestly give a bad grade on is the price. And that is only because you did not like the fact it was more than you expected. You never contacted me about the job not being finished and I don't know why it would take you a couple of days later to notice this when your kitchen is something you see everyday. I notice you made no comment on the things I did for you in the past at no charge. Maybe your used to getting freebies."
"Thank you for your kind comments. and might I add, serving us some of the best coffee we have ever had!"
"Thank you! We try our best not to have any complaints, but if we do, we will take care of them."
As an aside, we had a problem with our hallway floor, which he diagnosed quickly whereas 2 other contractors had not discerned the precise nature of the problem. I was impressed by Ron's problem solving skills. I'd definitely recommend him for remodeling work and will want to use his services again when the need arises.
We had heard of Ron from an acquaintance of ours who highly recommended him. We can second that strong recommendation.
