I would rather pay a higher rate and deal with one person who has done the work, remembers what he did at the property and gives you options / suggestions rather than wonder who is going to show up from a company with many plumbers and then you get asked questions like what did the other guy do.
David's work is very clean and tidy, especially when you have and old house and limited space in a sink base cabinet. My cabinet guys were impressed how tidy all the plumbing connections were, to date David and I have worked on 3 kitchen remodels. He was very accommodating with the kitchen install schedule and didn't hold up the remodel due to his schedule.
Rather than trying to sell me on a new bathroom sink and toilet, David worked with me to save my old and quot;venetian pinkand quot; Crane sink and toilet. I told him I wasn't ready to part with the pink and he just recently (August 2012) replaced the stems in the pink bathroom sink.
He has given me options on a water heater which stopped working day before Christmas -- first to try and replace the element rather than buying a new water heater. We've discussed replacing a cast iron radiator in a kitchen with a toe kick unit and he said he thought the tenants would be happier with the heat from the old radiator rather than the toe kick. I really appreciate someone being honest and not being all about getting more work for themselves. I consulted with another plumber and he strongly suggested I replace the radiator and when asked what do I really gain, he told me space in the kitchen. Who needs tenants calling you up in the dead of winter complaining about a cold kitchen. David gets it -- if it isn't broken, you don't need to fix it. Too many contractors out there out there trying to hustle customers.
I consider myself a picky customer, not easy to please so when I come across someone that knows their skill, is pleasant to work with, returns phone calls, is on time, I continue to work with them and refer them to others.
