Having been through this several times before, I pulled my 4 yr old out after visiting nearly all day one day to get a feel of what was going on. My goodness! I'm sitting on the floor reading to the kids. The teacher was on automatic while shuffling around the room: "pull your shirt down, sit right, stop leaning, sit right, stop rolling your tongue, stop touching the visitor (me) , don't sit close to the visitor..." OMG! These poor kids were in Boot Camp. Hey, for some this might work. Get them ready for Public School. My thoughts? She'll be in public institutions of learning for the next 20 years (K-Masters)! Leave her this year to relax, enjoy, learn in a loving venue.
No wonder my daughter was crying and weeping all day! The owner suggested to me that her other parents will start to complain. They suggested I put my pre-K child in a room with the 3 yr olds! I been through old-school, it's nothing I want for my child. I made a decision in the hallway at that very second. The owner saw a threat to the orderliness of this teacher's room; I saw a threat to the spirit of my child. I suggested we leave the center for good. They were happy. We were happy.
They were fair and only charged us for 3/5 of the week's invoice. Now my child is in a Montessori Center that just opened in Groton where she is blossoming. Did she cry when she started? Yes. She was afraid Ms J would appear there. They embraced her with love and had all the children come around her, the teacher got on the floor and read to her and the children. They rocked and sang songs. They promised Ms J would never come to their Center. They promised to her that she would be cared for, safe, and loved. The crying stopped on the first day within 5 minutes. ahhh. such is life. I'm thankful my child expressed her emotional pain through crying, else I would never have visited and spent 3.5 hours on the floor watching the day move along for these kids.
Several families have already left Precious Memories as soon as the new multicultural montessori opened their doors.
We're blessed with new possibilities now.
