Color: Jim applied a coat of outdoor polyurethane to the white cabinets, leaving an inconsistent film of yellow-brown
Texture: Jim's method of finishing cabinets with paint brushes rather than spraying results in deep, scattered brush strokes throughout the cabinet surfaces. When presented with concerns around the effectiveness of his technique, Jim reiterated a smooth, professional job.
Standard of care: Jim contractually agreed to caulk all seams and cloth / tape / cleanup 'very well'. The final product has gaps throughout the majority of seams and paint on our granite countertops, hinges and hardware.
When brought to his attention, Jim attempted to remediate the poor quality work by painting over the polyurethane, leaving the job looking even worse. He then filed a bogus claim with his insurance company knowing they wouldn't cover poor workmanship and has since gone radio silent. A number of qualified professionals have confirmed that his work fails to meet a professional standard of care and that the job will now cost some multiple of the original cost to undo his 'work'. We've filed a complaint with the BBB and plan to pursue him in small claims court.
