WFO CONSTRUCTION LLC

We had a start date on the contract of 8/4. Then they changed it to 8/7, then to 8/11, then to 8/12, 13 and 14, then to 8/18 and I think they finally started on 8/18. We had a completion date on the contract of 8/14, and they finally finished every last little thing on 8/30. This was a horrible experience overall. The damage the roofers caused was limitless. They ruined my husband s grill, put a hole in the siding on the house, went through the roof and into our bedroom closet, destroyed half of the landscaping and two weeks later, we re still picking up nails, shingles, felt and other debris on the sidewalk, yard, garden, deck and driveway. They didn t have their dumpster in place the first day, so they used our deck. When I gave the crew leader a list of damages toward the end of the job, he just rolled his eyes. He didn t care! He did fix the hole in the siding and, although they removed the ceiling in the bedroom closet, they left it like that. No new ceiling! They had also left a big gap in the fascia board (after replacing it) and had not finished putting the flashing around the chimney in place. Their response when questioned about it? Well, nobody sees that anyway. They eventually did these tasks correctly because we demanded it. The crew leader certainly wasn t going to take care of anything like the ruined landscaping, so we made a deal with him that he d leave his dumpster for us for that last weekend, and we d be able to get rid of some refuse we had and we d call it even. At this point, all we wanted to do was get rid of them. Friday evening, the dumpster guy comes to pick up the dumpster. If it weren t for the fact that it was blocked in by our vehicles, we wouldn t have even had that part of the deal done. After numerous calls to WFO to obtain a copy of the building permit and a receipt for the permit (they said upfront that they took care of the permit so we didn t have to), to no avail, I placed a call to the Building Inspector, only to find out that WFO had never applied for or been issued a permit to do our roof. Yet, we d cut them individual checks to do so. I just wrote a letter to WFO today letting them know that I ve spoken with the Building Inspector and that they are to return those monies to us immediately. I really don t want to have to go to Small Claims Court over this job, but I will if necessary. So, although the roof appears to be solid and didn t leak during the last storm, it s been a long and painful journey working with this contractor.
