Our experience with John was outstanding! We hired him first to do a gut remodel of our bathroom and couldn't be happier with how it turned out. When he came to do our estimate, he took the time to talk through the project with us, take measurements and make notes. His written quote was thorough and professional. He showed up when he said he would, worked hard all day and cleaned up the space every night before he left. When we encountered problem areas, he explained all our options and was honest when we asked "what's the right way to do it?" Communication throughout the project was outstanding.When the bathroom was finished, we asked him back to take care of replacing all the interior room and closet doors in the house. No small feat in this house. The doors were all different sizes, hinges were not uniform in size etc. John took the time to measure and make sure everything was ordered and installed properly. We have several other projects we will need to do in this house over the next couple of years and we are looking forward to having John back to do them for us.

I can't thank John Russell enough what a outstanding job he did on our bathroom. Our house is 95 years old and was last updated in early 1970. John from the very start explained issues we would run into with the house leaning and walls that by todays standards are no longer up to code. John had a very hard job with just trying to get supplies up the steep narrow stairs and sometimes he needed to bring them in via the bedroom windows. John was on time, on budget and respected our property as if it was his own. We turned our keys over to John and what a beautiful job he did. John from the very start communicated what supplies we needed and he stayed at the house for deliveries to make sure everything was correct. John was flexible with our schedules and other contractors in the house at the time. Every time we visited the house it was broom clean and tools and parts were all neatly organized. John is a very friendly and easy going person that reassured us that he would correct other contractors mistakes that we had found. I wish I could give John 100 stars because both my wife and I are so pleased with his work. We have many more projects for the house and are looking forward to working with John again in the near future. From the bottom of our hearts thank you John Russell we love our bathroom!!

This is the second bathroom project this contractor completed for us (gutting each to studs and creating bright, new spaces). Trusted plumber/electricians were brought in as needed. John is a pleasure to work with, devoted to completion of your job in a timely manner, and guides you along as you select, order, and await your tile, fixtures and such, We love our new bathrooms and highly recommend this company.

We are very happy with the result. John Russell was a pleasure to work with from the initial interview through a sometimes unexpected build to the final inspection. There were problems with delivery of materials (specifically the bathtub) but John cheerfully worked with us and helped us get through the delay. Whenever something unexpected came up, he solved the problem. And even with the issues the project was completed on time and is of high quality. We are very happy with the final result and would recommend Russell Construction to anyone who has a project and wants excellent work.

We needed a complete bathroom renovation - walls, ceiling, floor, tub, sink and toilet. John provided a very detailed estimate and timeline upfront so we knew exactly what to expect. His communication throughout the project was excellent. We have an older home so there were "surprises" along the way, but John proved to be a great problem-solver and we always felt confident that the job was being done right. At the end of each day he took extra time to make sure that everything was kept clean. John was always available to answers questions and make suggestions on fixtures, tile, etc. His knowledge and experience is invaluable.

Mr. Russell's initial response and written estimate were achieved in a timely and professional manner. It took some time to begin the actual work due to scheduling issues. Mr. Russell always arrived on time, worked dilligently and completed the work as scheduled. He gave sound advice on our flooring issues and we trusted his professional expertise. It was challenging work due to the restrictive space and age of our house. The finished results were excellent and we would definitely hire him again.

John was the general contractor in charge of the renovation of my master bathroom. The entire bathroom was gutted, with walls moved and the toilet relocated. The shower was completely tiled with subway tile and a teak seat installed. John hung the lighting fixtures, replaced the mirror and tiled the floor. The walls were primed and painted. I couldn't be happier with my experience with John and his professionalism. He showed up everyday on time and always cleaned up the mess before leaving. Any changes that I suggested were completed to my satisfaction. I was so pleased that I am now hiring him to redo my half bath.

Beautiful job! I couldn't be more pleased. John was there everyday and on-time. He explained what would be happening as the project went along... communicating via phone, text or in-person. When my tile order fell through late in the project he saved the day by putting me in touch with a tile vendor who helped me out in a pinch. Cost for his services were competitive. Beautiful workmanship. Highly recommend Russell Building and Remodeling and would definitely use him again.

It went perfectly. I had enormous expectations for John Russell based on his reviews here and he vastly exceeded them. The bathroom looks fantastic and the project came in on budget. John's favorite saying is "a clean job is a happy job," and each day my house was cleaner when he left than it had been in the morning. When John's tile subcontractor was doing the tiling, John came in every day to inspect the work and make sure that my house was up to his exacting cleanliness standards.

Excellent! John is a pleasure to work with. This is our first house and it was our first renovation, so we really knew nothing. John was helpful and patient as we figured out what we wanted. He was great about helping us build a schedule, figuring out how long the job would take and letting us know when he would be available. The communication was always great. Demolition started when he said it would. Work areas were always cleaned up at the end of the day, tools put away / grouped together, nothing ever left half-done. The shenanigans, as such, were always my doing - mirror backordered, cabinets wrong size, vent fan indecision, washer/dryer delivery snafus, etc. John does most of the work, but will call in an electrician or plumber when necessary. Even though this was a small job, there were plenty of challenges that John had to solve on the spot. Six months later I am still impressed with his engineering skill and still really happy with the solutions he came up with. When you do projects like this, sometimes there are surprises where you just have to accept that the project won't turn out the way you envisioned at the start. With John, there were no surprises, he worked through the tough problems, always involved us when there was a question and he delivered a result that exceeded what I'd hoped for at the start. Also, John and his electrician fixed a minor electrical situation for the kitchen that only became apparent after he'd taken the bathroom drywall down. Approximate cost cited is just for John's work, it doesn't include the cost of washer/dryer/cabinets/vanity/toilet/tile, etc.

This project went smoothly from start to finish - he picked up the tile that I had picked out had excellent plumber and tile guy - everything was done in a timely and NEAT fashion. I can't say enough about the craftsmanship. Everyone that has seen the bathroom ooos and aaahs over it. I just recommended him to a very close friend who has been admiring my bathroom. I will definitely be using John again and would highly recommend him. If you could give a A+ that is what he would get - definitely a "10"

He completely remodeled my kitchen and did all the work himself except for electric and most of the plumbing. He brought in trusted professionals for that. He was neat and cleaned up each day.

My main bath needed a complete renovation,walls, insulation,floor,tub,sink and toilet. The plumbing and electirical were a mess,but John and his plumber and electrician saved the day. John was on time every day and cleaned up before leaving. He explained everything clearly and gave me great suggestions. I plan on hiring him in the spring for another job. I would recommend him to my friends and neigbors. A job well done!

This is a very reliable and skilled contractor. He is prompt, prepared, innovative in solutions for an old house like mine, and very precise in his work. His prices are fair, and I feel I am getting a top-notch carpenter for a very good price. I have called him to fix windows that are older than most, and he found a solution with very little trouble. I would recommend Russell Remodeling for any job in or outside the home. His work is flawless. As an added bonus, this contractor leaves the job site cleaner than when he arrived. And I trust him enough to leave him alone in my home working.

I found John very professional and thorough. He was on time, courteous, and kept the work area clean. I found his estimate to be reasonable; offered a contract with explanation of what needed to be done along with a payment schedule. I was kept informed and updated as the project went along.

John showed up on time as scheduled and he and his associates were a pleasure to work with. The process from quote to contract through construction to completion was smooth (other than my own faux pas of not having the shower shelves when needed). He took that in stride and we rescheduled completion when my shelves were ready. John had to make adjustments for my tub; cutting the floor and replacing a joist, leveling it on a not-so-level 60 year old floor, rebuilding a wall corner and straightening and relocating plumbing pipes, all complications unforeseen at the beginning.
John and his associates were professional, clean, polite, trustworthy, extremely knowledgeable and skilled. I was on-site throughout the remodel and would check in as work progressed. He didn't cut any corners, and in fact went out of his way to explain some of the corrections/improvements that he felt needed to be made for quality work. He had quite a few "surprises" along the way, but quickly resolved them all, conferring with me and keeping me aware of progress and involved in decisions.
My new bath and shower alcove is solid and beautifully done. My plumbing issues have been corrected and I have a new finished wall and corner edge. The tile work is wonderful. John aims for perfection even when perfection just isn't attainable; getting as close as possible.
Being a single woman, it's imperative that I find honest and professional tradesmen when I need work done. John Russell and his associates are now on that list. He treated my small project with the same importance and professionalism as that I would expect to be reserved for a much larger project. John Russel gave us a time schedule for starting and finishing the work. John was on the job every day with other craftsmen and finish the work as schedule. Ever day the area was cleared up, all building material removed, no tools laying around no dust. We are more than pleased with our new bathroom, as are those who visit us and need to use the area. My wife and I would recommended, you give John Russell a call, Have him look over your project, and he will get you a approximate cost. If you decide to go ahead with Johns work. He will write out a contract that cover the work to be done and a payment scheduled, so everything is cover in writing.

I have been a homeowner for over 40 years and have engaged in dozens of home improvement projects, with varying degrees of success, to 3 different homes during those years. My most recent project was a complete main bath remodel with conversion from tub to walk-in shower and the results are absolutely perfect. As was the entire experience. And John Russell is the reason.
From his first visit to assess the job to his last day of work, the project proceeded without a single issue. He promptly responded to my request for an estimate, took the time to understand what we were trying to achieve, offered suggestions to improve our plan, and provided a fair written estimate within a few days. The final contract detailed the work to be done with start and completion dates and left no unanswered questions. The entire room was gutted to the studs, radiant heat was installed under the floor tile, the walk-in shower was tiled with mosaic on the floor and subway on the walls with mosaic accent bands, a heat/vent/light unit was installed in the ceiling and all new fixtures and accessories were installed. And absolutely everything that John did was evidence of his outstanding skill and workmanship. He was especially sensitive to creating a room that was a safe environment for me, as I ?age in place?, and also a room that functioned well for my disabled son.
I always knew what to expect with John. He started the project on the contracted day. He would always arrive when he said he would and let me know what he planned to complete that day. He would take care to protect the adjacent rooms from the usual construction affects and always left the work area protected (from 3 cats) and the entire house clean at the end of the day. He worked on my project consistently ? never leaving to jump to other jobs. And completed the job exactly when he said he would. I could never have expected more of a commitment.
From the first day that I met him to his last day on the job, John has been a joy to work with. His workmanship is second to none ? he is a true craftsman.

I had my new kitchen designed by one of the big home improvement centers and bought the cabinets and countertop there also. The plan was to have their installer do all the work, however it took almost four weeks just to get the final quote from them. I saw that as a bad sign and decided to look for someone else. I found John Russell on Angie's List and gave him a call. He came to look at the job the next day and I received a quote 2 or 3 days after that. I was impressed with him, his knowledge of the job to be done and how quickly he responded to my request. As a result, I called him to let him know I wanted him to do the work. He said he had a cancellation and would be able to start work the following Monday. He did start that Monday and I've never regretted my decision to hire him. My home is quite old and as a result several unexpected issues popped up during the installation. John was always able to overcome them and still keep on schedule. In fact, John was finished with the install in about the same time the other installer took to just quote the job. At the end of each day the work area was either swept clean or vacuumed. John's plumber and electrician were also excellent. I was very impressed with everything that was done from start to finish and would not hesitate to hire John again.

I wanted a new kitchen and ended up buying all the pieces at a major retailer. I had to find an installation contractor myself. I didn't use Angie's list at the time. I'd spent quite a bit on the cabinets and granite counter top and wanted it done right. I looked in the phone book and asked around if anybody knew of somebody good. Russell's name kept turning up. So I got 3 prices including Russell's. Russell's wasn't the cheapest but he was able to point out issues that the others didn't, I felt most comfortable with him so I went with him. Man was I glad I did. They were on time and onsite every time they were scheduled, no hassles no excuses. Very professional and kept as clean as possible. When it came time for the granite counter top they showed up even though they weren't scheduled. I didn't know but the cabinets have to be DEAD LEVEL for the granite counter top and sure enough, the counter top guys said it was and exceptional job and put the top on no problem. I work in the construction industry and I know that poor planing creates problems and bad results, Not this time and I believe it was Russell that was the key.
