Let me say at the outset that I was impressed by the professionalism, efficiency and courtesy of all the staff members of Connecticut Air Systems that I dealt with. I called Connecticut Air Systems for an estimate to replace my 40-year-old HVAC system and made an appointment for Tony (the owner) to come out to provide an estimate. He came by on 9/22. While he was gathering the information, I asked if they would rewire the thermostat to have include a common wire so I could install a Nest Thermostat. He said they would do that. I asked if they could supply the thermostat or if I should, and he told me, either way. I asked what the timing might be, and Tony said he was booking out into November and December as many people were replacing old systems. He said my job could be done in a day, and he might able to work it in earlier. After he left, I got another estimate from my heating oil vendor. Their representative said his company did not install smart thermostats, but could check if they would rewire the system so that I could. It didn’t matter, as his estimate was much higher than that from Connecticut Air Systems and didn’t mention the thermostat rewiring. I contracted with Connecticut Air Systems on 10/16 and they arranged to install the system on 10/27 (much sooner than I expected.) The entire installation went well and took about 6 or 7 hours. In the evening a day after the installation, I smelled something burning and saw white smoke coming out of the furnace. It appeared to surround the burner. It did not occur again later that evening or the next morning, but I called Connecticut Air Systems anyway at about 9am that morning. Tony and a technician arrived about 30 minutes later. I told Tony that I wasn’t sure if I should call as the installer told me I might smell some burning right after the installation, and I wasn’t sure if this smoke was part of that. Also, the problem only occurred once and seemed to have gone away. Tony said I was right to call. The technician tested system and found that there was not enough draft in the chimney. Tony explained that the low chimney draft would not be a problem during cold weather when the furnace would be on a lot and the chimney liner would heat up to create more draft. I think he said this tends to be a problem in older homes. Mine is about 70 years old. (I did an online search later and found that many people experience flue problems when installing a new furnace as the new furnace may not be compatible with the existing flue pipe.) Tony explained that when the weather is not that cold (as was the situation that day), the furnace is on for less time and the chimney doesn’t get warm enough to create enough draft causing back pressure on the burner. This can result in oil seeping out of oil inlet tube and burning to create the white smoke. The technician spent about a half hour adjusting the burner. Tony said to call if it happened again. On 11/5 an extended warm front moved in and the weather became very warm (in the 60s) for over a week so the furnace didn’t operate a lot. On the morning of 11/7, the furnace smoked again, although a lot less than the first time. I called and spoke to Tony. He said he was going to order a new control for the furnace that would turn on the fan before the burner started to get the draft going and also turn it off after the burner stopped to keep the draft going. I expected that it would be a few days for him to get the device, but about 3 hours later Tony’s assistant called me and asked if the technician could come by in an hour to install it. He came and did the work. The weather remained unusually warm the rest of the day and for the next week with no recurrence of the problem. Nor did the problem reoccur after the weather turned colder and then warmer again over the next month. I was very impressed by the quick response of Tony and his team to this issue. They demonstrated excellent customer care. The entire process from initial call for an estimate through scheduling, installation and follow-up exceeded my expectations.

From the initial estimate meeting to the actual work and some followup repair, our experience with CT Air Systems couldn't have been better. Our house, built in 1901, has a hodge-podge of layered climate control systems: an oil furnace to heat one part of the house in the winter, a heat pump to cool/heat the upstairs and an addition, but no cooling other than open windows on most of the first floor. The heat pump was nearing the end of its useful life at 25 years, but we were also tired of being hot during the summer in the downstairs areas, including the kitchen. So we collected estimates for cooling solutions and heat pump replacement. Tony from CT Air Systems visited for the estimate, and went over various options with us for cooling the downstairs hot spots, including installing a cooling system to utilize the existing furnace ducting. He was knowledgable and thorough, listening carefully to our needs and explaining in detail the pros and cons of various solutions. In addition to the heat pump/blower replacement, we settled on a ductless system, with two "heads" for the downstairs, and a third one in a third floor attic space renovated as a home office. The price was a little higher than another estimate, but not extraordinarily so. The job was completed over two days, with most of the work happening on the first, needing just an electrician to wire up the new ductless heat pump on the second day before things could start actually working. The initial day went like clockwork, with two fellows appearing promptly in the morning to start dismantling the heat pump blower in the attic and removing the old heat pump unit outside. A bit later, another crew arrived to install the ductless system. At this point, it began to rain heavily outside, and this kept up for several hours, but they worked through it. I wish I could remember the names, but one guy worked outside in the driving rain for most of this time. Everything was installed by the afternoon, with the new heat pump and blower working fine. The following day, an electrician wired the ductless system and someone from CT Air Systems arrived afterwards to fire up the heads and give us a tutorial in running them and the system in general. At every point in this process, the people from CT Air Systems were professional and courteous, working efficiently throughout. Update, 9/4/18: We discovered that water was leaking from our third floor, down the side of the house near where the ductless unit there had been installed. Since the water stopped when we turned it off, we figured that there was some issue we couldn't see in the walls where the conduits ran out to the ductless heat pump. I called CT Air Systems at 9:00 a.m., and by 11:00 a.m. they had someone at our house who identified and fixed the problem without any cost to us since the issue had stemmed from some fittings which had loosened after installation. While it would obviously have been better had the problem not occurred in the first place, I was impressed with how quickly and efficiently CT Air Systems responded.

The owner himself came out to do the initial design and estimate. The design was perfect, the equipment was just what I wanted, and the price was very fair. The estimate was written so that I could select upgrades if I wanted, complete with additional pricing, so I could pick the exact system I wanted for the home. The crew came and put most of the system in on day 1, and finished on day 2 in the AM. Very hard working employees and they left the home so clean you would have no idea they were even here. The duct work is custom and doesn't take up much space in the closets (for the drops to the 1st floor). Their electrician was scheduled and completed all the necessary wiring in a few hours, along with a new digital thermostat (included in the price of the job). At this point I have to schedule the first start up for which he company comes out to test it and make sure everything is running smooth. I will update my review once I have had the system up and running this spring/summer but I don't expect any issues considering how knowledgeable the owner and foreman on the job was. I had estimates and designs done by many different companies and this was the company I hired for the job. Everything was explained to me each step of the way. Seamless install, and totally professional.

We are so impressed with the innovative solutions from CT Air! Instead of chewing up our already small closets in the upstairs bedrooms, they installed custom ducts and took up very little space. The owner quoted the job and was very professional and kind. The gentlemen who came to do the job were very knowledgeable about where to place vents for optimal flow. They were on time, courteous and left no messes behind. We had multiple quotes done before we chose CT Air so they were right in line with expectations for price and were flexible with the options we wanted. We have been running our new AC almost nonstop and couldn't be happier!

The air handler was in a very tight attic/crawl space beneath an mansard roof. It was an extremely and difficult space. Also, the only access was through an opening of less than 3' by 3'. The crew performed the work patiently, methodically, and expeditiously. They were immaculate, cheerful, knowledgeable, and professional. The same is true of every one with whom I interacted from the first contact, through the proposal, to installation and follow-up. The price, although high, was competitive and fair, and their advice was excellent and focused on my needs. I look forward to along relationship with them.

The team arrived on-time the day we agreed on. All work (installation of indoor unit, outdoor compressor, running covered cooling and return lines next to gas line, thermostat) was done very professional and the team was a pleasure to work with (courteous, friendly). They were very supportive of our wishes and installed indoor and outdoor units exactly where we wanted them. I'm very impressed with this company and will use them for all our HVAC needs.

I like everything about Connecticut Air Systems Inc, it's just that it was a little difficult to schedule the appointment earlier in the year. You know, they're so packed up, they're so busy. The interaction with them was fine, it was great. They're very professional. The work turned out fine. I recommend that they have more technicians during the height of the season, so that they could service more clients in a shorter period of time. I think they're competitive. They're very good. I definitely will use them again in the future.

Very well done. They came and installed the duct work as well as the new zone control system in the same day. I had 4 registers installed and a return in my basement. I now how heating and cooling down there. They also put in a new 4 zone board, as I had a 3 zone old board. The new one is modern and has some nice features on it. I also have new thermostats that they showed me how to use as well. We had a known problem with the AC that they added as part of the deal to be fixed so everything would be working when they left. All in all, very professional. I'd work with them again.

It was a pretty thorough package. They were reasonably efficient and thorough. The serviceman was polite. They cleaned up after themselves and they were knowledgeable enough to answer all of my questions. They have been my provider for 10 years. Generally, I feel very good about them and that’s why I continue to use them.

They are very good with what they do. I have been working with them for three years. They are very reliable, they are professional. With price I would give them a B because sometimes, it is a little expensive but it is worth it because they are good. They do my service every year, I call them every year.

After meeting with four different companies, I chose these guys because Tony Sr. had the most elegant installation ideas compared to the other companies. We have an antique house with hot water heating, so it was a big challenge to figure out how to install AC without destroying the place while working around radiators, hot water pipes, years of modifications, etc. Tony Sr. came up with some great ideas. His son, also Tony, ran the installation crew and he came up with some very slick ways to execute his father's plan. I also like that Tony Jr seemed really passionate about his work, getting excited when he found a solution to a problem. The installation crew worked fast and was very neat. When they were done, the system looked like it had always been there. Very tidy work with respect to the duct work, insulation of the ducts, routing the tubing up the side of the house, etc. People in the office were also very nice and easy to work with, very responsive when I had questions or need to schedule things. Plus their price was very good. We now have an effective AC system in our antique house.

They did excellent work, were very professional, and were knowledgeable. The technician was professional, helpful, and understanding.
My issue is the cost of services provided and not provided. They charge a $110 diagnostic fee?even if you can tell them what is wrong and needs to be done. They are on the pricey side for the cleaning and filter change. Probably about double what it should be. The worst was when I was quoted for a new thermostat. They were going to replace mine with one that cost about $15. It takes about 10 minutes to replace it. They quoted me nearly $200 to replace the thermostat?and they were already there doing other work! I left my house, went to The Home Depot, purchased a nicer one for $23, and installed it (Youtube) all in less than 40 minutes for a total cost of $23. The installation took 7 minutes because I had to read the manual first. Something like that should be $75-100. No more than that.
All this said, I'd hire them for larger jobs, but not for maintenance and small issues. They're far too expensive.
