Pros:
The design and sales process was excellent. We were not necessarily looking for the lowest price, but they had the best overall plan, and worked to find a solution within our budget.
They did Very good work overall. The project was completed within the budget with no surprises, and the people performing the work were very personable, good to work with, and flexible to make any minor modifications we requested.
Cons:
The biggest problem we found was that there was no real point of contact or project management. Any issues that came up were routed through the office staff, and answers were then relayed to us - we were not really able to talk to the project manager (for example, we were told that appropriate building permits would be pulled, but this did not occur. When we tried to find out why and make sure that it did happen, we were never able to talk to the person responsible for doing that, and this required extensive follow up on our part).
When the work was complete, there was no final inspection or followup call to see if we were satisfied with the final product. This would have gone a long way in providing superior service. There were a number of (minor) items that were unsatisfactory which required them to come back out to fix or complete, which to their credit they attempted do immediately. However, not all items were ultimately fixed to our satisfaction.
per the contract, "promised" that the build out of the roof-line over 2 bay windows would stop leaking that we had in our basement. They removed 2 copper roofs over bay windows, built the roof "to code" ---to quote them... but not enough to extend past the window sill. Also did some stone work in the front entry. Cheaped out the veiling of the entry - fixed it when called on the carpet on this. (put up vented soffit for gutters as a ceiling of the front foyer). looks gorgeous. still leaks---b/c the new roof line drips tight on the window will that created ice in NEW ENGLAND WINTERS because water freezes ... can't stand outside and guard agains ice forming on the window sill as ice forms in winter. when this melted - leaked worse than ever....called company. got passive aggressive mailing on "ice dams"... which were NEVER a problem until they altered the roof drip line, which was "to code" but not far enough out to fix the leak. would never use them again. Overpriced for quality.
A detailed quote was put together very quickly and face to face discussions set up quickly and at my convenience.
From day one of the project, great communications, arrived early as arranged every day and work was carried out every day until the project was completed. House was tidied and cleared at the end of each day.
Any changes or problems were easily overcome, and contract kept up to date to ensure no surprises at end.
Work was completed to a very good standard and I'd be more than happy top use them again and recommend them to others.
"February 6, 2014 Re: [removed member name] 20 Harvest Court Cheshire, CT 06410 [removed member name] has left a few of the "facts" out of his “comments”. In 2013 he signed two contracts with my Company, not just the one Roof contract he is referring too. He signed the first contract on August 12, 2013, which was for replacement of his Roof. The Total Amount of this contract was $20,900.00. This contract also included replacing the Wood Clapboards on the three small Dormers on the Front of the House (which are 2 ½ stories in the air), as well as replacing the three windows in these same Dormers. After he signed that first contract, but before we started working to replace the Roof, he started talking with my Company about Residing his entire House. He signed that second contract, which was for the Residing of his Home, on August 20, 2013. The Total Amount of the 2nd contract was $27,600.00. The Roof was replaced the week of August 26th. As we were going to be residing the entire House, we left the work on the Dormers to be done when the House was resided. After the completion of the Roof, he met with my Salesman numerous times to make the Siding & Insulation choices. For the Insulation Board he decided on a Special Order (non returnable) Fire Retardant Insulation Board, and for the Siding he selected a Deluxe color, which is not stocked at the Distributors. This product was ordered (non returnable) and brought into my Distributors Warehouse to be on hand for the start of the Vinyl Siding Job. The Residing of the House was scheduled to be started on October 30th. All the materials had been brought in to our supplier (as noted above) to be ready for the scheduled start date. On Wednesday, October 23rd he was contacted by my Office to let him know that we would be starting on the Residing of his Home on the following Wednesday, October 30th. At that time he stated that he had changed his mind, and no longer wanted to go forward with the Siding Job. This is a direct Breach of the Contract that he signed with us on August 20, 2013 which was to Reside his Home. We have Special Ordered materials that were to be used in the Residing of his Home that are Non-Returnable that have already paid for. In addition to that, this has also breached the original contract to replace his Roof. When we replaced his Roof (the Roof was replaced the week of August 26th), even though all the staging was in place we did not do the work on the three small Dormers, as this was now supposed to be done in Vinyl, not the Cedar originally contracted for in the 1st contract. As such, it would be done by the Siding Crew when they Resided the rest of the House. To go back and do it now we would have to restage the roof all over again, which would cost twice as much than if we did it at the time of the roof replacement, which would be yet another cost incurred by my Company caused by [removed member name] Breach of his two Contracts. On top of everything mentioned above, he neglects to mention one other very important point. He still has a $5,000.00 balance on the Roof Contract that he has never paid. [removed member name] has caused a considerable Financial Hardship to my Company by his Breach of the Two Contracts he signed with Fiderio & Sons. At the time of his Breach of the Two Contracts I had made the determination that I would not pursue my Legal Options, of which the contracts he signed with my Company gives me many to work with. However, if [removed member name] does not cease & desist from this defamation of character on these totally unfounded accusations this matter will be turned over to my attorney, who will pursue all the legal options available to us, of which there are many detailed in his contracts. Regards John C. Fiderio President Fiderio & Sons, Inc."
