Wood & Wood Seamless Gutters LLC

Mr. Wood showed up to do the estimate on time.  Performed the work when he said he woul and removed the old gutter from the property even though it was hidden from view.  The price was better than I was expecting.

Mike responded to my email in around 12 hours, much faster than his competitors, and based on my linear foot estimate, gave me a price in that response. He also called to contact me as a follow up to the email. We established a date. The only reason for a B in punctuality is that he did not make that first date. However, he did call before the appointment window was over, we rescheduled, and he was right on time for the second appointment. The work was done in hours, the team was friendly and professional, and the material quality and installation was excellent. The site was cleaned as good as new after the job. The price charged was by the linear foot and after installation the price ended up lower than quoted. The work included an extra "that day" request to add a downspout extension across the studio roof.

Our first rainstorm went well except for the recurrence of a chronic drip behind one gutter over the garage - a problem which we had also experienced with the prior gutters. I emailed Mike, who quickly responded. He was at our place within 48 hours and fixed the problem without our noticing he had been there. No problems when we had the next rainstorm. Great job!

Mike Wood was very responsive via email and also via phone. He's one of the few contractors I've come across who is willing to communicate via email.

I initially asked him to come to my house and inspect the gutters because I wasn't sure what would be required. He came sooner than expected and provided different quotes to:
- rehang my existing gutters
- install new gutters
- rehang my existing gutters and add Leaf Solution
- install new gutters and add Leaf Solution

He also noted that the wood fascia above my front porch was rotting and estimated the cost to replace that as well.

After researching Leaf Solution and talking to Mike more, I made the decision to go ahead with new gutters + Leaf Solution mainly because there are a lot of trees near my house and I was getting tired of going up on the roof regularly to scoop out leaves. I feel like I got a good price after getting estimates from a few other contractors.

After signing a contract, Mike again surprised by scheduling my job sooner than expected. He and his crew came early on a Friday morning and finished the job in a few hours despite several downpours.

I'm happy with the job Wood & Wood did and would definitely use them again.

Oct 25, 2011 Update
I've downgraded the "Quality" rating I gave from A (Excellent) to C (Fair). Let me explain why...

I went up on the roof this past weekend (Oct 22nd) and took a few pictures of the Leaf Solution installation. I noticed several large gaps between the sections of Leaf Solution that Mike and his crew had installed. The gaps looked to be effectively negating the main purpose of Leaf Solution ---- which is to prevent leaves/debris/grit/seeds from falling into the gutters and clogging them.

I took pictures, sent them to Mike, and to his credit, he had his guys come out to my house again on Monday morning (Oct 24th). I was impressed with his responsiveness.

Unfortunately, after I got home from work on Oct 24th, I went up on the roof again and took more pictures. There were still gaps between the sections of Leaf Solution - gaps that were allowing seeds to fall through into the gutters. When I sent these updated pictures to Mike and asked if this is how the installation was supposed to be, he replied and said "All the leaf solution has been gone over. And everything is within acceptable parameters. Sorry for inconvenience."

At the moment, I'm still trying to figure out what to do. I'll post another update when I have one.

Nov 26, 2011 Update
After Mike said everything about the Leaf Solution installation was "within acceptable parameters", I contacted the Leaf Solution company directly. I showed them pictures of the gaps and they replied saying that the installation had NOT been done correctly. They contacted Mike  Wood on my behalf and soon afterwards, he sent his crew out again to my house on Oct 26th.

After his crew finished, I went up on the roof again on Oct 28th and took a comprehensive set of pictures. Unfortunately, there were still noticeable gaps between a few sections of the Leaf Solution panels (see attached pictures).

I sent these pictures back to the Leaf Solution company and they agreed that the gaps were an issue. At the moment, I am still in a holding pattern waiting to see what happens. I don't know if Mike is going to send his crew out to my house again to finally fix the remaining gaps. For this reason, I am leaving the "Quality" rating as a C.

I am impressed with how responsive the Leaf Solution company has been and how they have been willing to do everything they can to make sure an installation of their product has been done right.

I started off looking for a new leaf guard system but I knew that my gutters were probably on their last leg.  Mike was very responsive with information and an initial inspection and quote.  They were out to install the system within a couple of weeks and the installation was quickly and professionally done.  They hauled away the old gutters and down spouts and cleaned-up the site so well you could not tell anyone was working here that day after they left.  I'm pleased with the product quality and the fit and finish of the job. I would recommend them to anyone looking for gutter work without any hesitation.

Everything went as planned.  I am very satisfied.

Mike was very prompt with the estimate and worked around my schedule. Ended up doing the work earlier in the month than Mike had initally told me they would.  The workers were professional and were done quickly. The new gutters seemed to work well during the first rain after their installation.

They were pretty good. Their price was high. They did the job well. I would use them in the future but I would negotiate the price.

I called Wood and Wood one afternoon.  My call was returned the next morning.  He stopped by that very day and as we were not at home, he left a detailed estimate after checking all our gutters.  Very professional estimate left in a file folder.  He came by within the week to do the job.  

When I called their number I received a call back that day. The following day Mr. Wood came by, and as we were not home, left an estimate at my door in a professional looking folder. I called to engage him and he arrived a few days later - calling me ahead to alert me that they would be there. The work was done very quickly and efficiently and he disposed of the screening he removed and also the debris from the gutters. We were very pleased with the entire experience.

Quick response. Excellent work. They were very professional, removed all old material, and cleaned up after themselves. I am totally satisfied with the result. The gutter guard (stainless steel micromesh Evelyn's leaf solution) works really well; no more cleaning gutters for me. Great experience with a local contractor. I always try to support local contractors first, and it was a great experience.

Mike Wood was very responsive throughout the process -- from calling me back, to coming out to give me the initial estimate, and finally through the installation. He clearly believes in the Leaf Solution product and stands behind it with a 100% no-clog guarantee (not just from the company that makes the item, but also from Wood and Wood itself). The installation went smoothly, the covers look good (very inconspicuous), and they seem to be working well. It is so nice to look at those gutters and not see them completely overflowing with leaves this time of year. There is a "break-in" period when water runs off the covers and over the eaves rather than into the gutters through the micromesh on the covers. I called to ask Mike why this was happening the first time it rained after the installation, and he explained to me that this was to be expected until the oils that are left behind in the manufacturing process dissipate. Now the covers are working fine, but he should have remembered to tell me this initially (he was apologetic). He also forgot to leave an invoice, and then sent it a few days after he said he would. But these are very minor concerns, and I'm very happy with the product and my overall experience with Wood and Wood.

Jim Wood responded to my intial message on the same day, He showed up to give an estimate when he said he would, was very helpful explaining the product, gave me a fair estimate for the work and honored my Angie's List coupon. The gutters were installed in the timeframe agreed upon, all debris was cleaned up and the gutters look great. Overall this was a very positive experience.

They were easy to deal with. They were very professional. They cleaned up with after themselves. The owner is very nice and easy to get a hold of and easy to talk to about the work that needs to be done.
