I called and mentioned that I needed this work completed because I needed to drive a long distance the following weekend and that my car wasn't running quite right but really didn't want to have a 'diagnostic' done to specifically locate any issues (this would've cost me an additional 70 dollars). The person I spoke to said they could do this work in 45-60 minutes and that they would look quickly to see if they thought they needed to go through the additional steps to diagnose the car.
I left my car with the same person I talked to. At that point he told me it would take about 1.5 hours.
I got a call from this person and he stated that they believed the car would run fine with the work they were going to do but that they noticed that the brake pads were down to 10% and the rotors were terrible and that the coolant was "dirtier than he--". If I wanted this work done in addition to the other work the total would be 796. He stated "if you try to drive this car in this condition it won't make it". Seemed pretty scary, right? So, I said.."ugh, go ahead". He said it would take 2.5 hours.
About an hour later he called to tell me it was complete. I went in and paid the bill. I got out to my car and noticed the worn tire was still on the front of the car. I went back inside and mentioned it to the person I'd been dealing with all day. He went outside with me, took a quick look, took my keys and told me they'd rotate them real quick.
I told him I'd take a seat in the waiting area.
25 minutes later he handed me the keys and headed off. (No statement, no apology, just keys).
I called after him "How do I know the other work has been completed?" He said "He did the work, you can look at the cameras, he had the tires off--he just put them back in the wrong spot." I replied "Ok, but when a person pays 800 dollars for something they expect the job to be done right."
"You didn't pay 800 dollars for a tire rotation" he retorts.
"No", I stated, "But if you pay 800 dollars for a TV and the on/off button doesn't work but all the other components do, it still isn't much use."
"Sorry it wasn't rotated correctly" he said. (This is the first time he apologizes for incorrect service)
"Ok, that's fine, thanks", I replied.
The car still acts a little funny but it's been very warm here and the car has a little engine and some trouble producing power when the a/c is on. I just felt like I had been suckered...and even though the brakes DO feel a lot tighter, I never truly know whether or not I'm being given a corporate push to have work done that I don't need or actual issues. And since that tire rotation issue was dealt with in such an un-professional, non-chalant manner it made me legitimately question their practices. I will not be going there for any more service.
