"I strive to always give A plus service! Generally, if venting is plugged you can see it when you run the dryer. The heating element will glow brighter than it normally would do to restricted air flow. I always check for this. If there is a problem it can blow thermal fuses and cause another no heat situation. If the venting is less than 10 feet and accessible, I will usually replace it . This typically costs another 50 in parts and labor. If it is longer than this, 20 to 30 feet, and running through ridged pipe, I will inform you to get a company that specializes in vent cleaning. This is not a service that I do, and often will cost more than what I charge to make repairs. If I suspect that a dryer may also have a partially clogged vent, I will tell the customer to make sure that the dryer is drying within 50 to 60 minutes for jeans and towels. If it is not then you will need to hire a vent cleaning contractor. I'll tell you that when I'm there. If you ever have a problem or you don't feel something is working quite right--call me! I stand by the work that I do! I try to be very thorough! Can I miss something? Of course! I must also tell you that even though I repaired just your dryer, I would also have looked at the fill hoses on your washer to make sure there were no bubbles (if they were black rubber hoses). A hose with a bubble is one ready to break, flooding your house. I also would have told you about this so you could avoid a flood!"
"I'm sorry that you were not satisfied with my price. I was very clear with my pricing. It is also printed in black and white on Angies list; I told you over the phone what it would cost BEFORE, I came to your house to perfom the service you requested. I NEVER want there to be any confusion as to what I charge. When it comes to pricing, I'm the walmart of appliance repair. You will not get better service at a cheaper price! It is true that I was unable to remove two of the "rusted" top burner screws. I could have removed them with a drill, which would have been much more costly. However, I was able to clean the orfices with a special pin/tool. I'm always very profesional and curteous. I go above and beyond to give each customer the best experience when using my company. I charged you $106.30 incuding the Tax to make the repair... Most companies charge $80 to $100 just to come out and tell you what is wrong--reparing it at a much higher cost than I charged you, often in excess of $200 dollars. ( Customers have shown me various repair bills. I have seen them with my own eyes.)"
I have never had a negative experience like this from anyone I have gotten on Angie's list and that is really why I use Angie's List so much.
"I went to this customers home to repair her icemaker. I was very specific that we did not do any billing with the initial conversation. I arrived in my two hour window. Nobody was home and there was no check to pay me! It was not a very good first experience with this customer, I almost didn't return; but she apologized, so I did return. (I should have followed my gut and not came back.) But I rescheduled, again I showed up in my two hour window. I ordered a genuine,( not generic) icemaker. The web page showed two icemakers without a serial number destinction. I received the wrong ice maker. I reordered the ice maker... And returned with it... I was running late, and as a curtesy I called.... Because also, if I am running late, people sometimes need to leave. Why would I want to drive somewhere, if someone is not home? I call not just for the customer but for me too. I apologized for running late... Everyones time is precious. I came in the evening when she was home. I replaced the correct icemaker. I watched it fill and checked the water level for the cube height. It was correct. She called me a MONTH later to tell me that it was making small cubes... I went to her home and adjusted it, knowing that she would most likely need a new inlet water valve. I charged her no additional money. She called to say that it stopped making ice all together. I ordered her an inlet valve. I also told her that this has been a frustrating experience for the both of us; but that I would take care of her by charging her only for the inlet valve, with no additional labor. I called to tell her I was on my way, because there was doubt as to wether she was going to be home or not. She already stood me up once! I told her if she was not going to be there, that she needed to leave a check to pay for the water inlet valve. (Around $70) She then made her intentions know that she was not going to pay me... "How do I know it's going to work?" I told her there is only an icemaker and a water valve to the system. That it would correct the small cubes, and that the icemaker stopped functioning because a small cube most likely got stuck in the ejector arm. She was adamant that she was not going to pay me. I told her that I would not leave a bill. Then she tried to tell me that I never fixed it correctly, and why am I charging her more money. I reminded her that it worked for a month and she never called to say she had a problem. I am very honest! I take pride in my work! I do things right or I don't do them at all. I always do the right thing! Tell me the truth and I will always give you the benefit of the doubt... Lie to me to try and get something free... Forget it! I won't go that extra mile to help you! She had a second problem unrelated to replacing her icemaker, and I told her to call somebody else! She could have paid me only for the valve and had a Ice once again. I was charging only for the valve, no extra labor as a good gesture for a frustrating experience, and to try and achieve customer satisfaction. I am never rude... I am always professional! I will go that extra mile for you, and I stand by the work that I do. On another note the streets were torn up down to the dirt... I had a detour during one of the visits... They only do this when they replace underground utilities like gas, sewer and water mains... Her old valve probably saw some sediment from the construction. Unfortunately, inlet valves can not be disassembled."
