This is the second time that we had Shane do work for us this year, and I should note that I initially contacted him because of his positive reviews on Angies's List, so it's fitting that I chime in. The first time, two months ago, was to install an outside light where we are putting up a new deck. I told him what we wanted done, and he explained what he could do. He was not pushy at all and did not try to oversell the job. He supplied the light, installed an outdoor switch, and fixed an inside light switch that was not working. The cost was $300, and I thought that was quite fair.
For the second job, we had him install two overhead light fixtures in our garage and got the !@# outdoor light that has not worked the last two years to work again. The fixture had no power running to it (could be related to garage door work we had done a few years ago) and he ran a cord to it and placed a switch for it as well as the outer pole light that he "restored" power.
It is a pleasure to come home and see the outside lights power up when I pull in. I am one happy customer, and I have no doubts about who I will turn to for future work. (I wish he did decks!)
There is one caveat: Shane and his crew are very busy (a good sign, if you think about it!), and it was not always easy to schedule something. For us, this was not an issue, and it turned out that the first time he was able to come by earlier than scheduled. Me? I wanted someone who could do good work for a fair price, and I found him. I have no reservation in giving Shane's company a ***** rating.
Because of a very positive experience when we first found Maximum on Angies List, we insisted the builder use Maximum.
Again the experience met our high standards and the cost was within the allowance provided by the builder.
The builder was also impressed and added Maximum to his subcontractors.
I would definitely call him again.
"Thanks again. We will work harder to get our quality and professionalism To an A-!"
Mr. Tanner and his employees consistently failed to follow written instructions or ask us for our preferences in completing various sub tasks resulting in project delays or additional expense. Examples include but are not limited to:
1) Failure to install/repair bathroom fan requiring project delays and revisits by Maximum Electric employees. Required additional expense to correct after completion of bathroom.
2) Failure to install bathroom fan switch requiring revisit by Maximum.
3) Failure to ask about overhead lighting placement, requiring removal of fixture.
4) Incorrect placement of switch box requiring removal.
5) Placement of electrical breaker panel in closet in non-compliance with electrical code. Had to be moved to another room.
6) Incorrect wiring of breaker panel supplying 240 volt to an outside connection box for future air conditioning. Required deployment of a second electrician at our expense to correct the issue.
7) Incorrect labeling of sub panel circuits requiring our electrician to provide corrections..
8) Failure to connect CO detector to our monitored alarm system.
9) Failed to ask us about under-counter lighting. Replaced at our expense.
In general, Maximum worked in a piecemeal fashion, sometimes not showing up for weeks.
"My name is Shane. - To the customer-[member name removed]. Some details of the job did not go as smooth as you wanted. For this, I apologize. I, nor any of my crew, enjoy a job that the customer is unhappy with. I take pride in making my customers happy and satisfied. (As you can see from my reviews). Sometimes, nothing will satisfy a customer. Each issue you mention has "there's another side of the story" scenario. We tried, at great lengths, to complete the job in a timely and professional manner. [member name removed] knows this. I continue to work with the general contractor and we continue to have "Happy Customers" , just not this one."
Thanks to Angie's list I had made the right decision to hire them. I have not seen the bill yet but he said it was sixty dollars an hour.
They were here for three hours so around $180.00 for the job. If you need an Electrician and you live around Madison, Ct. you will not be disappointed if you hire Maximum Electric for the job!
Shane is a delightful person to work with and his cost was exactly in the middle of the range he quoted me. He is an extremely practical person and had lots of excellent tips to reduce long-term costs involved with generators.
I will be calling Maximum Electric for all electrical projects in the future.
